True, there has not been a female comic book movie that was successful, but that doesn't mean its not possible. To be fair, there has yet to be a comic book movie focusing on a female that had an even remotely decent script. It doesn't have to be big budget, but at least a somewhat quality script. Electra Aeon Fulx and Catwoman are just silly.

X-Men: First Class is currently being written and that features a younger Storm. The whole X-team are kids in it, so that'll be interesting.

Angela would be great as Storm. But I'd also love to see Gina Torres in the role.

I believe it is possible to have a female superhero and pull a profit at the box office. it all starts with a compelling screenplay. Unfortunately, no one in Hollywood is willing to focus on the story first before designing the costume or the special effects on these kinds of films.
