Thread: Who is still breastfeeding?

Started 1 month, 3 weeks ago by awesomemommy
I know I am not the only one...... I was wondering when/if you plan on starting to wean, or if you plan on bfing until your little one weans themselves. Also, how often do you bf your little one? Is anyone else still bfing at night? Thats all.... Jacque

I was down to just nursing to sleep and through the night. I got to the point that I just did not want to continue and I also thought she needs to learn to go to sleep without eating, so about 5 AM last Friday was the last time I nursed her. I was planning on going until she was ready to stop, but I think she would have gone forever if I kept offering. She seems fine with a bottle instead for now...

GL Julie. I stopped BFing about 2.5 months ago. She lost interest so I took advantage of it. I'm proud I made it to 11 months. Melanie has been off the bottle for a month.

I'll stop when the Chairman's done. He's eating real food now, and so our breastfeeding is pretty much limited to going to sleep at nap- and bed-times. And since we bed-share, he nurses throughout the night. And also mid-nap when he wakes up and needs the boob to go back to sleep. So it's a lot of breastfeeding, but it all happens in bed.

We weaned last week. She was nursing not very often as is except at bedtime... and once through the day. I was getting tired of Steve not understanding her needs, and just saying "JUST FEED HER ALREADY!" types of things and anyways, when she turned one, I stopped the day before.. I tried hand expressing some milk, and there was nothing there really. I tried to pump. Nodda. I figure pregnancy ...

Still nursing. No plans of stopping. I plan to breastfeed until at least 2, probably longer, whenever she's ready. She's eating lots of solid foods now so, like Andrea, her feedings revolve around naps and bedtime. She still nurses 4-5 times a night. I might try and nightwean her around 14 months, we'll see how we are doing at that point. I know Lydia gave me some good info for nightweaning ...

We're still bfing too. It's still an all day, all night kind of thing. She is eating more 'people' food, but still prefers mama's milk. I wish we could night wean, because I'm really suffering from lack of sleep. Since she doesn't take bottles, and can't take dairy, bf is the only choice for us right now. I have toyed with pumping again, but with her so mobile, I can't see getting the 10 or 15 ...

Several of us are singing the same song here, and last night I looked up the Dr. Jay Gordon night-weaning-but-still-bed-sharing plan. I'm going to give it a try. Last night I watched the clock each time the Chairman woke and went fro the breast. There were hours-long stretches when he wanted it every 30 minutes! That's just crazy! Not only is there no milk at that point, but between ...

The Jay Gordon method worked really well for us. Once you night wean you gotta stick with it or you may find yourself needing to nightwean again down the road. I am going through my second night wean. She just gradually snuck night feedings in one by one. Its didnt help because she was teething her molars and it was the only way to comfort her. lol.

We stopped at 4 months I was sad about it, I enjoyed the experience. I'm a full time worker, though, so it was very hard!! I pumped for a good while to give her daytime sitter a stash (for bottle feeding breast milk).. but as time went on I just couldn't pump as much. Kudos to you still going, that's fantastic

Yes, the kids started calling her Cosy (as in Co-See) all on their own, and it stuck. Garrett also calls her "little sissy", and he also calls KK "big sissy". For the most part Mike and I call her Cosette though, i just love her name so much. Oh, and for the record, we do call Kailey "KK" and Garrett "G", just like I do when I post about them on here. Those names were...

Haven't been here in a while, but we are still breastfeeding too. There is no way Isaiah is anywhere near ready to give up his precious boob. We still nurse at all times of the day, except through the night. I weaned him from that because I knew he was capable of sleeping through the night, he just wouldn't because he knew I'd give him the boob if he woke up. I believe in baby-led weaning, so I'll breastfeed for as long as...

Still BFing. Still BFing through the night. Still more BFing than "real" food. No end in sight. This is fine by me. This is my last baby -- I will not be TTCing again. I see no reason to rush him. I am not really pushing solid intake and sippy cup usage as much as I probably did with the other two, but If he doesn't start taking those a bit better on his own by the first birthday, I'll emphasize that more. I...
