Started 1 month ago by quickbiscuit
Guys, I'm looking for a set of these stocks for my new stainless Mark IV Series 70 that is coming tomorrow. Are they available online? Thanks!

Wifey tried shooting the gun but she is having difficulty racking the slide even with hammer up. I am thinking of changing the guide rod with a full length one and a single spring. Appreciate your views.

With the little Defender you are limited in spring choices. Have wifey turning it sideways and trying to chamber a round. Next choice might be to find another pistol or buy a revolver.

With the Defender captive spring system, does one even have choices? Wolff sells replacement springs, but one has to take apart the original system apart. Colt sells the complete system. I have not heard of a "FLGR and single spring" in a Defender? Any way, how would that make racking a slide any easier? I vote with Dakota, get the wife a weapon she can easily operate.

Or have her try moving her hand forward on the slide...that's the only way my wife can rack 'em as she doesn't have much grip strength. Works for her.

WILMONT replied 3 months, 1 week ago
Tell the wife that you need to buy a mint Gold Cup NM that so she can work the slide easily.

That's some outstanding weaponry you picked up! I still think it's a shame that Uncle Sam stopped issuing these fine pistols. Do keep safe! Jim

Buy a new model 70s or maybe an XSE and shoot it.

Finished the old Commander with blended Baer tail, trigger, C&S trigger guts, and S&A arched housing.........TW

Although none of my Colts have one my old AMT Hardballer does have an "outie" if that is what we are talking about on its extended slide stop. I bought it new in 1984 by the way. I have seen what you talk about in aftermarket slide stops, but not in anything I can say came from Colt. Not they don't exist, I just haven't seen one I can say came from Colt.
