Kingmaker. Bad characters, with terrible voice acting. A Deus Ex Machina magic weapon, and a nonsensical ending to a very strange story. The only good part was having to work with the different factions to get them to vote for me. But I couldn't stand most of the voice acting...it grated worse than some "lesser" community mods. -D

Besides trashing mods outside the author's eyes & ears so no response can immediatly be made, is there a purpose for this thread? A constructive purpose, that is.... And I enjoyed KM; were-rat and all. _________________ Elhanan the Ancient One "As water reflects a face, so a man's heart reflects the man."

People have different criteria when it comes to how they view and rate a module. I tend to go with the higher rated modules, but I have found modules every so often that have not been so highly praised by the ...

Adam Miller's series. however, I think DEMON was an anticlimax; great module but it didn't feel like the others and should have been standalone. ANd while the others felt like fresh RPGs, Demon ripped off Planescape: Torment.
Quote: Posted 09/28/09 23:33 (GMT) by Olivier Leroux It's unfortunate that in this case the error in the documentation can't be corrected anymore and of course that doesn't make the mod a bad one. But if you pass off a sad drama movie as comedy most people will judge it as a comedy and give it bad ratings, regardless of whether it's a good drama or not. It's not fair at all but understandable if the...
Quote: Posted 09/29/09 00:16 (GMT) by Tybae But you will ask a friend what they think about the movie, right? Personally I never go and see a movie without at least reading my favorite reviewer's opinion on it and/or seeing the trailer, but that's just me. I omitted that I'll take a quick look at the topmost voting comments but they're quite random and can't replace thorough documentation by the author....

He has a niche in the module categories, but I think his secret is that he has continued to put out his modules and conversions at a steady...
@ Estelindis That's exactly what I like about V&V: "Off the wall" The author wrote it the way he lives. Take it or leave it. In my opinion, that's the only one way to write anything. I don't think you write a module for the players, but for yourself. Actually you're coming near the most interesting part of "moduling": Publishing! And you know what? It's easier than one might...
Quote: Posted 09/29/09 02:46 (GMT) by RangerSG Adyd, Re Pirotase: It's not her dialogue. That's not the issue. It's the command system didn't work, the xp drain for keeping her unless you absolutely micro-managed her was absurd, let alone the gold drain in a low-gold module. She was an impediment to enjoying the mod, ultimately for me, a gamebreaking one. And yes, LoD and Alanya is very much skewed on the...
The main thing that ruins a module for me is too easy combat, especially when the mod in question is a hack 'n slashfest that is all about the monster fights. I have played more than one very high-rated module that turned out to be about little more than fighting off endless waves of tediously easy monsters while collecting masses of overpowered loot to make everything easier still. So my advice to authors would be: either make your...

Well, the best way to do that is probably to research all the other "what do you like in modules" threads and if it isn't on there, then it's probably not good. I'm going to have to differ with you on that...

Quote: Posted 11/22/09 15:54 (GMT) by Queensilverwing Ah, thanks Andarian. Well, I think i'll wait a good while until the game becomes cheap, then maybe peek at it. Gore just turns me off. Don't think it'll be cheap for quite some time. It's too good And the gore turn off is a very strange attitude for a dragon... lol Thanks for that hearty roar and best wishes, QSW!
