You let Polanco go you better sign Figgins. If you don't and let him go you fucked up IMO. PP is still valuable to us. Last thing we need is another Everett in the line up. You take PP out of that 2 spot and replace him in the line up with some guy like Everett we are in serious trouble.

Polanco can still be effective with his style for a couple more years. I wouldn't be upset if they re-upped him for 2-3 years at a reasonable number. I like the idea of Figgins, because he'd fill two spots for one - middle infield and leadoff.

While I would love Polanco, the Tigers will have more pressing contracts and potential contracts to deal with.... 2010 Justin Verlander arbitration eligible (2010-2011)....EEESH, Justin will be expensive coming off a Cy Young and ALDS MVP!!!! You gotta pay! 2010 Edwin Jackson arbitration eligible (2010-2011)....Tigers have rarely not extended a player in this situation.... (at least 8M ish...

On the flipside, the potential dead weight contracts of next season: 10M - Robertson- final year of his deal 12M - Willis- final year of his deal 18M - Maggs- if they allow his option to kick in, which is becoming more likely 12.5M - Bonderman- final year of deal 13M - Guillen- yes, he's great when healthy, but hardly an iron man. Still 26M left on his deal. 6.6M - Inge...
