I am going to be riding a lot of long distance, unsupported riding this season, so I decided to go through my vest and get everything cataloged and indexed to make sure I have all the tools and parts that I need on the trail. I will be riding from Cal City to Primm and back this weekend (425-475 mi round trip). The weekend ...
Jonnyairtime posted an older link that has a good set up as well. Although it is for the CRF450 having a Husky you wouldn't need as many things. Like an extra bike. All joking aside it is always good to be over prepaired rather than under. He also uses the Ogio Flight and now that my Camelback HAWG is starting to weather I am thinking of getting one. I also use a fany pack that is very nice (...
Love the Ogio. I wear it over my chest protector and Leatt. I just got the TLD Blais jacket to fit with the Leatt. here are some photos. with my Setup.
Here is me with the Ogio Flight vest on.
And here is the jacket on over all of that. It fits like a tailored suit. It feels good, and keeps everything together nicely, but does not restrict my range of motion.
With the ...
That is a sweet set up in it entirety. I'll put together my tool and accessories for a photo shoot soon. We need to keep this thread going as long as the moderators don't move it to common topics. Maybe you can change it to things to carry in the California Desert for long trips.
I seem to only be able to edit the contents, move, or copy the thread. If a mod can change the title to: "What to carry in the California Desert for long trips" I would appreciate it!

Very nice setup and it does look tailored to fit you. Dammit, now I think I need to drop some dough and try that vest out, they sure are getting popular and there must be a good reason for that. A wise man a while back told me to get one but I went another direction...doh!
My current setup +/- :
Zacspeed SP-3 chest protector/hydration/backpack - very comfy I might add, just not enough room...
Wow all that gets in the vest? I'm impressed.
I base my tool kit on what I need to do work on my bike. Any time I need a tool not in my kit I consider adding it.
One tool that I really like is a small pair of vice grips. I have used them as an emergency shifter as well as clutch and throttle by clipping on to the cable.
I'm carrying a Motion Pro chain tool and not just the master ...

That is an excellent list and has many things I haven't thought of.
Next to the flashlight, is that a timing light? I never thought of taking one of those until now.

Best price on the Ogio I have found is 109.95. Anyone find a cheeper chicken than that? Definitely on my list of needs to have.

I wouldn't want to run a marathon with it, but riding a couple hundred miles is nothing.

Also if I crash and the bag gets ripped off then I am stuck figuring out how to carry that. It really does not feel like overkill to...
Remove all Advertisements In addition to my vest, I took an old fanny pack and strapped it up against my gas tank. it carries some stuff. like batteries, sd cards, camera, keys, trail map for the day... I suppose, i could get a bigger one and throw in the tubes and irons....

Quite an extensive list of stuff that you carry. I read somewhere else that...
Not true, you arent thinking about this logically. My tool belt carries metal tools. My bolted on fender packs carries tubes, plastic zip ties, tire irons, patch kits, tow ropes, paperwork, and anything else non metal. My buddies take pride in carrying all this on their body like you probably do. More power to you for doing this, for me it makes more sense to have a light tool belt and fresher legs. BTW, it has taken me 20+ years of...
