I'm actually surprised there isn't a general thread about the flu. I guess not everywhere its not as hyped up as in Baltimore. TV told me last night that 30% of marylanders will have the flu by November. I call shinanigans.

It is off topic even for General. Try Rider Down.
I had H1N1 back in July. I work in the hospital and am around a lot of sick
kids. My wife works for the emergency management in an adjacent county and
just got a bunch of the nasal mist and injectible vaccine in stock. I am
supposed to work the mass clinics for the county, but just got notification
that the vaccines for this county are delayed another week. I have heard
estimated from the state ...

Are you mocking me?
It's some scary stuff! We'll at least with all the media behind it.

No he's spamming. I'm in grad school at OSU. Oh well. What can ya do?
I understand that media can cater to what you want to hear, but H1N1 is being sensationalized on basically every news channel that I have watched, right or left on the political spectrum. The same can be said for newspapers. Every time someone dies from the swine flu it is on the news. These sources reach hundreds of millions of people in North America. The difference is how people choose to react and most individuals don't educate...

Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but 7 million deaths worldwide is far far from an epidemic, let...

Ronny - I do hope you are aware that by working as an EMT, you will contact the flu virus in any given season. While you might not experience any symptoms more severe than a low grade fever and exhaustion, you could still be contagious. Think of your patient on the cot, their body is already stressed and you could easily give them the flu. I'm sure they won't think of it as "just the flu". Any strain is still a serious...

A lot of people think H1N1 is the "normal" flu its not. http://www.flutrackers.com/forum/ has tons of good info and will give you a better understanding on not just H1N1 but other viruses as well.
I got my regular flu vaccine weeks ago. I am HIGH on the priority list for H1N1 vaccine. Hopefully my oncologist has some when I have my appt in a week & a half. But I can only take the vaccine built on killed virus, not the modified live virus nasal spray. The area where I live in E. TX currently has no confirmed cases of H1N1. That will probably change since we're a college town, but the university is mandating vaccines for all...

A newspaper publication in British Columbia put the fatalities from H1N1 on the front page the other day. The story was akin to a war memorial. Not to be insensitive, but at least 40,000 people die from flu related illness annually in North America, yet there is little mention of...
Media hype pushing a political agenda! why don't the tell you how many people died of the "normal flu?" or even the everyday cold? Ive had the regular flu, that was no joke. Pounding head ache, muscular ache, joint ache, both ends, for 5 days straight, then bronchitis for a month. That's enough to kill you right there! Scare tactics seem to be working. Be scared comply with your government! will I get the Swine Flue...
