I know there are a million or more threads like this, but there is good reason for it... GlockTalk always provides an answer, and some entertainment along with it. So here it goes, I am looking to spend about $700 on a new toy. Here are some of my wants, my needs are about covered.
S&W 686SSR
Start a new M-4 build
Start a new long range AR build
STI Spartan
Stoeger Coach...
It is going to be hard to really help. We are not you. We do not know what you are leaning more towards. Personally, I would probably recommend getting the STI Spartan. It is a fine 1911 according to Bac. I would not mind having one myself. My second choice would be to start a long-range AR build.

No HK's, no SIG's? THAT'S AN OUTRAGE!

I don't own an HK, I've shot two USPs and didn't really like them... sorry.
I am on my third Sig and so far its the only one that I like. (I had a 226 and a 2340)
More than likely though it will end up like usual. By ...

Out of the list I would buy the S&W 686, esp if you dont have a revolver. Its the best .357 mag revolver on the market today, hands down. Fun range gun too.

Out of your list I would get the Ruger Vaquero or Blackhawk in .45 colt and reload for it. I really enjoy mine. I have a Vaquero (no the new model) in .45 colt 7.5" barrel and find it to be a great gun for the range. Reloading the colt round is easy too.
