Hi all I live in Singapore and am planning a two week trip with my girlfriend to Europe mid-October. I plan to land in Amsterdam (2 days living with a friend) and then proceed to France (4 days), Switzerland (5 days) and spend some time in Prague (2 days) before returning to Amsterdam to fly back to Singapore. In France, I would like to spend 2 days in Paris...

Firstly the Eurail pass. Is it worth it? Well that depends. If you are under 26 then it’s much cheaper. However you will need a 5 country pass as you will need to get from NL to Paris . NL. Belgium and Luxembourg are classed as one Benelux country. From France to Switzerland and from Switzerland you need to travel through Germany to get to Prague . Don’t know why you cannot see ...

Thanks so much for your reply Ronaldo. Unfortunately, I'm 27 so I'll have to pay the adult fare. Do you think I should research reserving separate train journeys for Amsterdam to Paris and Paris to Bern (then get a switzerland rail pass for interlaken, luzern etc) and book separate journeys for Bern to Prague and Prague to Amsterdam? Any ...

If you book well enough in advance then you can get fairly good fares. For instance in mid October you can get one way to Paris on the Thalys for 36 euros. I think with the Eurail pass you still have to pay 33 euros on top of the pass price. On the TGV you can get a direct train to Basel first think in the morning for 25 euros. You can check connections on www.raileurope.com...

Hi Erik Thank you so much for your kind advice. Base on that, I change the schedule as below and need your support 1 more time: - Amsterdam Central ( Amsterdam , 1071 LA, Netherlands ) to Maastricht departure 13:37 arrival 16:04. I tried to book online but could not? I could not find how much per 1 ticket. Could you suggest me a cheap/safe ...

There is no need to go to Amsterdam to catch a train to Maastricht. That would be pretty stupid and would take you around three hours extra. From Paris take the Thalys to Liege and transfer there to the local train to Maastricht, You can book the whole journey on www.thalys.com. You actually should be able to make it back to Paris in the evening. There’s a train at 19:09 ...

Hi RonaldoC Maybe my English is not good enough and caused misunderstanding. I'm in Vietnam now and planning for the tour with different first destination from my country. Of course, I will not go from Paris to Maastricht by passing Amsterdam :) Your advice is quite useful to me and it's close with my need because Paris should be my first ...

>For example, I arrive Bruxelles from Paris at 07:47 and need to be on IC to Maastricht at 08:24. Is 37 minutes enough to move from Thalys to IC? Of course, 37 min is more than enough to not only change the train, but also to buy a breakfast in the station cafe, browse through the bookshop and still have enough time to leisurely walk to the IC to Maastricht....

RonaldoC replied 3 months, 1 week ago
Ah so are you going to do this in one day after all? Sorry I did not mean to cause offence, I was not calling you stupid, just that to do go to Maastrich via Amsterdam would be stupid. No-one is laughing at you my friend. As Erik said, yes you can go that route by catching the 06:25 Thalys then changing to the IC to Maastricht. 37 minutes will be enough time to get breakfast and ...

Hi and welcome. "Best Hostel Accomodation?" By all acounts the Flying Pig, The St. Christopher at the Winston and Stay Amsterdam are some of the best in town. "Best way to get from Airport to Hostel (train or bus?)" That will depend entirely on where your accomodation is will it not? "- Cannel cruise (or wait till we arrive in Venice for this)" thats a strange question is it not? the only...

Advice Needed for Europe Road Trip

I goto the Oktoberfest almost every year, and usually it is not too cold to camp, although I always stay with a friend so I don't speak from personal experience. You should stay at a campsite close to a S-bahn station so you can take the train when you go to the Oktoberfest tents. Forget about driving during these days! :) However, the best time for camping in Europe is the summer. Don't worry about the traffic jams, they are only...

Advice Needed for Europe Road Trip

Your first obstacle is age - at 21 or 22, you are too young to rent a car, as the normal minimum age is 25. So reckon on bringing your own car from the UK - and get used to driving on the 'wrong' side of the road. ;-) Stay away from all the European traffic jams in August - you have no idea how bad they all are. The Oktoberfest is actually in late September in Munich - traffic isn't usually too bad, though I have always flown...

Hello, You can use http://journeyplanner.9292.nl/ to look for public transport. It seems to me that you can take a train to Assen and a bus to Stadskanaal. Cheers, Dennis

Hemi, it has nothing to do with saving a few dollars. They may in fact save more by bidding now. It has to do with holding a non-refundable reservation for 7 months. There will be PL hotels for them to bid on 4 and 5 months from now. They should have absolutely no concern that PL will run out of hotel rooms for them. And a lot of things can happen to change their travel plans. Peace of mind for many is not having a non refundable purchase for...

tulips march 18- may 16
Published (2009-12-10 01:21:00)
Hi there, Weekdays indeed are more quiet, less locals ;-) Hard to predict which week is best. This year we visited Sat 25-Apr which was both the best tulip day and the day you could walk on the heads of the visitors (and the roofs of the cars and buses piled up in the traffic jams.) It was an 'average' spring. With late springs 2nd week will be better, with early springs the first week... Regars, <Erik> &...
