Started 1 month ago by tinker925
Just wondering what the differences are? For bar joints and parties in the Bay Area its about $100 per person.... more if we bring the PA, though.

should we send them via US Mail also ? We have never once asked for anyones email addy to send them anything , we simply let them know via our banner that we have myspace & Facebook . Our singer normally does it like this to make them pay attention. Singer: ok everyone when ya get home tonight , after the show and your sitting ...

A friend's band got most of their "online" info on big stickers and stuck it to their equipment. Guitar, Bass Drum, etc. Having a friend work the crowd works really well though, I've done this on occasion for people and it's great to meet new people! You could alway ask the barman if you could have a break between bands (say 5mins+) and then you guys can go in and talk to people...

we have a merch girl that's very good at getting emails and selling CD's during our show. it's not easy going up to strangers and asking them for something. you have to find someone that's good at it. -PJ __________________ www.charetta.com www.myspace.com/charettamusic www.reverbnation.com/charetta www.facebook.com/...

Quote: It might be just me, but the #1 fucking annoying question I get is from someone I know who I invited to one of my band's shows, didn't go, and then had the audacity to ask, "So, how was your show?" It's annoying and stupid on two levels: Why be angry? Do you go to every event you are invited to?...

I enjoy Derek's playing very much. He has broken outside the mold for slide playing. His various musical influences come through his melodies; from eastern music ( Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Ali Akbar Khan ), various early jazz artists ( John Coltrane and Sun Ra plus others ) and R&B, plus blues as well. His solo melodies are so refreshing because he doesn't play the same tired slide licks ...

we do 2 or even 3 songs from the same artist over the course of a gig. they are usually split up into different sets though. I don't think the average punter gives a rats ass about it though, it's probably more of a musicians concern than anyone else. It's not like the gig police are going to jump out from the kitchen and stop you from playing. "The Gig Police" is a cool ...

We do three Rolling Stones ina row to open up our third set. Jumpin Jack Flash, Last Time, Sympathy For The Devil. Our audiences never seem to have a problem with it. Max __________________ What Me Worry? http://www.hotboxrox.com/

I would never want to invite our following to come out to an unknown tiny-ass joint like that - that could have repercussions. I think once a band has established a following it doesn't make sense to play certain places that wouldn't be accomodating to your followers (or are an unknown quantity but not likely to be enjoyable).
