I found that dietary changes help in treating constipation , such as eating foods higher in fiber, drinking more water, and/or taking fiber supplements such as Metamucil .

I used this colon cleanser to clear up my constipation problems. Usually clears up within 1 or 2 weeks. Good luck.

Colon cleansing is something that doctors have mixed feelings about-- most don't believe it is necessary, some recommend it to their patients as a way of detoxification. But please remember that what works for one person, may not work for you. You don't want to try just any product without talking to your doctor first as resulting dehydration and/or sharp decline in electrolyte and minerals ...

The Following was posted by our Digestive Health Medical Expert Dr. Brian Fennerty in response to a similar question about colonics and colon cleansing . I've reposted it here for your info: " There is no doubt a bowel prep from above or below "cleans" the colon, but whether this is in any way benificial from a health standpoint is not known, but unlikley to offer much in the way of ...

The reason to treat constipation is to relieve any discomfort that may be associated with the constipation as the presence of infrequent, hard or difficult to pass stools (which is what defines constipation) in of itself is not a disease or a problem (the normal frequency of bowel movements is from a few times daily to as few as once a week!). Constipation itself rarely causes future problems (...

Usually a dietary change, such as increased fiber and water, will do the trick.

Please disregard both of Gastro Girl's posts on this topic. Her subtle criticisms of colon cleansing products have no legitimate foundation at all. And I suggest that you check her quote from the doctor who has no specialization in bowel movements and digestive systems. I am obviously a zealot of colon cleansing products, and know which colon cleansers work and which ones don't.

I've tried a number of different laxatives and I used to think they were safe, until I found out that laxatives can severely damage your digestive system. I did my research online and looked for a more natural alternative. I came across this product called Oxy-Powder and I could not believe the amazing results. Oxy-Powder is not a laxative, it is an oxygen-based colon cleanser, but boy does it help alleviate my constipation! I strongly...

Constipation with IBS can lead to hemorrhoids, so it's necessary to take high fiber diet, and should be taken in less amount in initial stage and later can be increased gradually, even doing colon cleansing will help in bowel movements better.

There are many things that can be done, but turning to home remedies for constipation first is always a good idea.

When stools become pretty hard and difficult to pass, or the frequency of bowel movements reduces drastically, you know you are facing this extremely common problem called constipation. There are many natural laxative and holistic treatments that can help treat symptoms of constipation and promote easier digestion,  without the side effects commonly associated with OTC or prescription drugs. One such herbal product is "...
