I'm curious what causes butterflies to happen? I became very good friends with this couple and I have bonded with both of them. Well sure the guy shares qualities I look for in a future husband but that's it. I abhor adultery and me and his wife share the same view on that subject. I just don't get why when I catch him gazing at me or watching me or whatever he's doing with that ...

It can be many things. Sometimes we are jealous, sometimes we miss a past relationship, sometimes it's brain chemicals, sometimes it's just a spark of randomness. It all depends on the situation. In yours I would say either jealousy or seeing some quality in him that you remember from someone else you may have dated.

These butterflies are ' I like being adored, it makes me feel good inside." These are very standard butterflies. Now, why do you have them, because something about the guy has you mentally stoked, so when you catch him looking you over, your mind goes bananas! Your 'bonus' question answers itself.
