Thread: What brand of eggnog is your favorite?

Started 1 month ago by bigdave48
I love eggnog fortunately for my waistline I only drink it at Thanksgiving or Christmas. I love the extra thick creamy variety with a hint of nutmeg. Please advise.

Gimbals rasberies and blackberries. I never knew Jelly Belly also made these. The grocery stores in Canada sell the Gimbals berries and their jelly beans are also very good! http://www.gimbalscandy.com/our_produ...

Montreal is very doable from here. Maybe we can have a poutine with it. Or better yet, a poutine hot dog. DT

I've not seen this. And I can't believe I haven't 'cause it's been posted for two years! I *love* good hot dogs. I also love French Fries. The combination of the *two* in one bite leaves me wondering, however. I would dip the thing in mustard mayonnaise.

My mother for sure- I grew up sitting on a stool next to the counter watching her cook, and of course taste testing throughout. Her little bits of wisdom that she would dispense as I sat there are all still with me as I cook in my own kitchen now. Of course I picked up on her bad habits as well- the worst of which was that she would often make something completely delicious, and would never ...

Thank you. I am soooo hungry. This would probably be easier to make if you have a mandolin that's easy to clean. (Mine's a pain.) I couldn't figure out what you were doing for gravy. Dija ever put poached eggs on top?

Yes, I should add that I didn't get sick from whatever it was, if that means anything to anyone, though I also didn't eat very much of it.

Am I crazy or is reheated takeout pizza better? Whenever we get takeout pizza, regardless of where we are, the pizza is usually a little too limp in the middle and it makes it more difficult to eat. It's floppy and the cheese slides off in big clumps - it's just difficult to eat. Once in a great while I get a perfectly cooked pizza that doesn't flop at the end of the slice, but its a rare ...

Hormones are, indeed, prohibited for use in poultry throughout the US. When your chicken's label says, "Hormone Free," it is basically like labels on olive oil declaring "no cholesterol." No reason for it to be there in the first place, except for marketing purposes.

I'd freeze it in usable portions, then use as shown above. Other suggestions would include using it on top of chicken, beef or pork in a crockpot, or as a liquid base for Spanish/Mexican rice. I kinda like the bloody mary idea myself. I also like to make my own version of ranch beans in my pressure cooker. I bet they would taste good with the gaspacho as a base.

KE, the jingle is on the jars on shelves now. Just beware, its not on all jars (only the larger jars have it) and the squeeze bottle doesn't have it either.

The video on Amazon.uk is very amusing - going to have to get this book! Even if it means I'll be skint!

I would always call ahead, preferably at least a day in advance. If the restaurant doesn't have vegetarian options and is unwilling to cook up something special, I would find another place to eat.

And maybe you could do some CH searching and find a great Russian restaurant to take them to. They could teach you lots of things, I bet.

Yup, and the smoked capybara (ronsoco) from the muddy, slimy open market in Pucallpa, Peru, in the Amazon still makes the most wonderful Christmas ham. Just steam to get rid of most of the saltiness and slice thinly on the diagonal. Nice, pink, and delicious. The world's largest rodent. I only told people after dinner that it was not Virginia smoked ham. People were surprised. The mango & lime juice compote made the perfect...

Neideregger enrobed in dark chocolate is FABULOUS! I just made my way through a large bar of it over the past few weeks. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! Is that pretty universally accepted as marzipan of choice? LOVE IT! On our local board, several posters have alerted us to gift certificates at local favorite restaurants offering $100 certificates for $50/$50 for $25 and have noted that some will make their way into stockings. Really nice idea. If you...

I went November 2008 on the Sapphire Princess. I was surprised you had to ask for it. Another poster said the same thing on a Princess cruise. Why serve bagels if you aren't going to have smoked salmon available.

Oh, poor you!!! I don't recall delivering a believable and convincing gag fit, alas. I guess a flair for the dramatics would have been advantageous in such a situation, hahaha.
