Thread: What Happens in a Glucose Tolerance test???

I have never had one in either of my previous pregnancies but i have a high BMI this time so i will be going for one at 28 weeks? What do you actually have to do and what do they do to you lol? Sorry if this sounds totally thick xxxxx

It is a routine test here so I've had it each pregnancy. They have you drink a super sweet drink, it tastes like a really sugary soda. They usually have orange, lemon lime, and cola. CHoose the Orange.. it is by far the most tolerable. You drink the drink, sit for an hour then they draw your blood and you are done. If you fail they have you come back in and do a 3 hour test, similar to the 1 ...

In the uk you have to do the 3 hour one and the stuff you have to drink is foul!

with mine i had blood taken then was given a drink and was either an hour or two hours then had blood taken again and that was it lol i did nearly pass out at first blood taking tho not to good with it hope it all goes well foe you xx

When you do the Glucose test they make you drink a sugary drink, and you have to wait one hour and they take your blood. If you don't pass then they make you do a three hour test. ..I didn't get a choice of drink..I got the Orange..which was horrible!

I have to have this as i have a high BMI too Your not alllowed to eat or drink anything from 9pm the night before....you go and have your bloods done then you have that sugary drink thing...then bloods done 1-2hrs later...the whole appointment time is expected to be around 3hrs...your ,meant to be offord tea or coffee or whatever and biscuits after...i guess thats coz your not allowed to ...

WHAT.....no eating for 12HRS...omg i will surely pass out or puke or something lol...they will have to feed me after i will refuse to leave until they do hehexxxx
