I'm reading Henry James' The Wings of The Dove at the moment.
Look! A ladder...
I've been re-reading books that I have read in the past because my toddler has me so tired at night and if I get into a book I've never read I'll never go to bed! I figure by re-readidng something, I already know how it ends so I won't be missing anything if I fall asleep! So, I'm re-reading Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman. I loved this book the first time around and am enjoying it even more this ...
Once fall is in full swing, several of my favorite libraries are open on Sundays. The last of the holdouts resumed fall/winter hours today. The place was , so I'm obviously not the only .
Your Soul's Plan : Discovering the Real Meaning of the Life You Planned Before You Were Born
by Robert Schwartz
The Stay-at-Home Survival Guide : Field-Tested Strategies for Staying Smart, ...
Just finished No Country for Old Men today. I really enjoyed it, but I wish I hadn't watched the movie first. And I guess that's a reason why I started to read McCarthy's The Road tonight. I just finished the first 50 pages and I'm loving it so far. But it's weird. I can't really place my finger on why I like it so much
CRIME by irvine welsh
DELIVERANCE by james dickey
V by thomas pynchon (dont know if i'll ever finish this, in fact i might have to restart)
Keep thy religion to thyself - George Carlin
Right now I'm reading Breakfast with Buddha but I'm almost finished with it. It's alright, but not as good as I thought it would be.
Phooey = IokFromTheCrypt's bird
The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov ~ A fine piece of Russian lit telling a humorous account of Soviet life in the '30s through the exploits of God, the Devil and a couple of writers.
Dear Mary, you who gave birth without sin, teach me how to sin and not give birth.
Sweetheart, Sweetheart by Bernard Taylor. This was recommended on these very boards, on a dark and stormy night many years ago...or like one. I'm only 30 pages in and don't quite know what it's about yet, but I think it might be a ghost story...? I read a ton of horror in October for Halloween and discovered I wanted to keep going. BUT after this one I may switch to a rollicking adventure in the form of Airborn by Kenneth...
Sarah Palin's Going Rogue, the audio version, narrated by the author herself. My hubby declined to listen to it together so I'm still looking for a suitable time slot. Can't listen to it in the office either, don't want people to get the wrong impression... Right now, I'm about 100 pages away from finishing Sherlock Holmes stories. Boy, I'm falling in love with the character all over again. It's so difficult...
Aye....I'm hoping that I get it; and 9 Dragons is an amazing read...it mentions or features bascially every Conelly character ever too Bernie: Look in your heart! Look in your heart! Tom Reagan: What heart?
I'm starting my Faulkner-fest after falling in love w/ both Absalom, Absalom! and As I Lay Dying . I've snatched up every book I could find and am starting from the beginning. All I gotta say is: in future Faulkner-fests, I will likely exclude his first two duds. Uck. Terribly boring and overwritten. Screw Soldiers' Pay . I do not look forward to having to read Mosquitoes before I can get to the Yok. stuff. Yes! Yes! Dig him!...
I have only read the first two short stories but I love reading horror in particular, psychological horror so hopefully there are some in there. The first story was kind of creepy but it didn't really scare me or give me goosebumps. The second story was a waste....pretty much about this girl who is obssessed with studying rare insects so she goes to bars and clubs to seduce men and take them to the apartment where she straps them down on...
Juliet, Naked by Nick Hornby ~ Nick's latest, regarding a music obsession and a deteriorating relationship. Just perfect. Dear Mary, you who gave birth without sin, teach me how to sin and not give birth.
