Thread: Wharfedale Freeview box - not working (ticking noise)

Hi, I have a Wharfedale WLFP1000 freeview box and since moving house it no longer works, no light coming on to indicate power and I can hear a ticking sound coming from it. Had it less than 1 year so really dont want to get a new one. There is a chance I accidentally plugged the wrong power adapter into the device with a greater watt than it needed if this could be a reason? any advice ...

A transformer of greater wattage won't hurt it, only greater voltage would/might, or reversed polarity. Is it still under warranty?

Serious post. If you have plugged the wrong power adapter in then you could well have reversed the polarity or input the wrong voltage. Boxes like the wharfedale are built to a low cost so don't have anything like reverse polarity protection. I'm assuming this is not a freeview recorder so the ticking sound could only be a relay of some description. In any case it doesn't sound good so you ...
