Thread: Were The Rockers more popular than the Hart Foundation?
Started 2 months ago by justin8684
Serious.
I'm watching their SNME match and it doesn't seem like the Hart Foundation got much of a crowd reaction at all when they were introduced compared to when the Rockers came out. I was young at the time when both these teams were around and I liked them both, but for some of the older people who were around at the time, were the Rockers a more preferred team by the fans back then?
Oh and another thing, since there's no commentary for the match and you can hear the wrestlers pretty well throughout the course of the match, I have to say, Bret Hart as a tag team wrestler was bad ass, he's constantly talking **** to The Rockers haha.

rockers not quite as much, but they had very good support from the girls.
I did notice that during the introductions when The Rockers were introduced, it was a lot of girls that were hollering....
Hart Foundation were heels for the majority of their run, so they weren't really "popular" with the crowds. They turned face in 1989 I believe. The Rockers were Vince's way of putting together a Rock N Roll Express type group. Yeah they were popular, but not THAT popular and they only lasted a couple years as a team, too.
They were more popular among women & teens, the Harts were more beloved by the older fans & the hardcores. Of course with the pretty boy teams there is always a backlash of some kind from the guys in the crowd- especially in places like Philly, although you never heard too much of this with the Rockers, like you did with say the Can-Ams or Strike Force.

Vern didn't get them, though. When they pitched the idea to him he was confused and thought they meant rocking chairs (according to michaels)
Popularity is a tricky thing. The Rock, at the height of his popularity, got booed in certain buildings. Same with Hogan. When I lived in New Jersey, we booed ALL the faces, regardless of WHO they were. The pop you hear on tv is not really telling because it is only telling for that one particular building and town. Also, it depends on the life of the gimmick. Some wrestlers come in HUGELY ...
Kind of OT but in regards to Hart & Michaels and tag teams, I have a rare flyer from a December 1996 event at the Horizon in Chicago where Michaels & Hart were a tag team against Vader & Austin.
