Started 2 months, 3 weeks ago by OoSuperMarioO

It claims that its next series of cards are not going to be based on a redesigned GT200 core, but rather will be based on a completely new core ...

It's about pricing, ATI came in and undercut Nvidia with the 4800 series and i think they weren't as expensive to make as the GTX200 series.

It is best to wait and see what comes out. Hopefully both new DX 11 series will be great.

As long as the price is actually worth it. ATI is doing great with its 4xxx series. Great pricing and excellent performance

What did you expect them to claim? It would be slower?

ATI is great and all, but I'm going to have to side with NVIDIA. Their drivers have always given me better luck and their cards run at much cooler temperatures. And after playing Arkham Asylum with PhysX - it's hard to switch sides. And the OP has a serious point too. What games are going to be using all this horsepower? I have a feeling if I bought the GTX 380 or whatever it will be - I'll have...

I'm thinking Nvidia cards may be 10% faster than Ati's 5800 series but when you put 2x 5870's in Crossfire, with Ati's great scaling, I would say it would be cheaper to buy 2 ati cards instead of just 1 nvidia card considering nvidia's price points are...

Though there's still the yield issue and Nvidia's production costs are much higher than ATI's. Also ATI is stacking chips in the X2 so you can use 6 GPUs in crossfire.

like this is news? ATI has been focusing on value and efficiency over raw power. nvidias have been just about speed and power. its similar to the old ghz war when intel kept pushing speeds and amd went for a 64bit efficient processor and then added a core.
