Thread: Water in passenger footwell

Started 1 month, 1 week ago by phil_woods
Hi people I have a problem and I think I know what it is but I would like a second opinion and advice of where to buy spares etc. Yesterday I was driving my car and noticed that my passenger windscreen was misting up. Today I have just found that the passenger footwell is full of water, can this only be my heater matrix? Is there any other possibility? Also who is the cheapest to buy a new ...

Lets hope tc it's definately coming in from outside so I'll probably throw some silicone at it lol. Your right tho fingers crossed it's a cheap one and I can then get my windscreen replaced!!

Try Rufe for a genuine one, probably your best bet

Nothing better than finding out the expensive repair you thought you had to make is going to cost pennies..

Deffo Heater Matrix as mines just gone. I got a quote from Rufe of £150 so sourced a second hand one in good condition for £30. I fitted it the other day and whilst it was a bit fiddly and you spend a bit of time upside down on the passenger seat with your head in the footwell it wasnt hard to do. I used a 'how to' available on another forum which i hope im ok linking too as it was very helpful....

You will never guess what!!! I don't think it is the heater matrix, I have just taken the passenger seat, glovebox, carpet and underlay out and I can see the water coming in from behind the top left hand side of the dash, nowhere near the matrix or any pipes. I think it's probably either a leak from outside or maybe something to do with the pollen filter. Skint at mo so the car will have to go ...

Thanks tc but I have checked my coolant and there is loads of it, just poured a kettle over the windscreen and it leaks into footwell. I have checked and the scuttle panel is clean and clear so I can only presume it's a window seal or something like that. I am made up it looks cheap and simple!!

I had a leak on one of my old 850's and that turned out to be the aluminium pipes that go from the bulkhead to the heater matrix, they'd corroded (due to lack of antifreeze) and started to leak.
