Started 11 months, 2 weeks ago by Jay Carax
Quote: Prosecutors have charged Olympia mixed-martial-arts champion and avowed anarchist Jeff Monson with first-degree malicious mischief based on photographs published in a December edition of ESPN The Magazine that showed him spray-painting an anarchist symbol on the state Capitol, court papers state. They could have saved $19,000 by leaving it there. What a waste of taxpayers money

Holy shit, thats not good.... Hope he dosnt get pinched or at least charged with anything serrious. Though I'd like to see the look on the face of the cop who is charged with taking him into custody, the guys pretty much a one man black block.

Yeah, right, cleaning one small piece of graffiti costs $19,000. I want that job, I've never made that much money in a year of working. ESPN magazine should pay his fine, the douchebags.

So, we gonna launch a defense campaign? I'm sure Monson has plenty of money for a lawyer, but he might need a little back-up. Any Common Action folks know him?

Man, that's not good. Although I don't really see how his picture nevermind. Um, from the comments on that news story: Quote: Anarchists of the late 1800's to the 1940's had a communist platform but without any authority figures telling them what to do. The idea was that each person would have a plot of land and grow or make stuff and trade it without being taxed or interference. They ...

Jeff Monson in jail but not for vandalism Olympia mixed martial arts champion and avowed anarchist Jeff Monson was in the Davie County Jail in North Carolina on Monday being held on suspicion of assault, a jail official said. The incident is unrelated to his arrest warrant in Olympia for allegedly spray-painting the Capitol. A Davie County corrections officer said Monday that Monson was in ...

What the hell does it matter if you think emotional abuse is "better" than physical? Who cares? IT IS BAD. Are we only going to try to change things that are really, really, really bad? Ignore the shit that is just really bad? What the hell does it matter?

Seriously, what kind of fucking point is that? Most of us have had the 'privilege' of experiencing fucked up things up and down the spectrum . . . from having our self-esteem systematically destroyed to being on the receiving end of physical and sexual violence and...

Thunk wrote: I wasn't saying emotional abuse is good. It sucks. But emotional abuse is not physical domination, so yeah, it did turn out better. I wasn't trying to invalidate suffering that is not physical. I guess what I am trying to say is that I have a very difficult time seeing physical or sexual abuse on the same level as emotional abuse. Again, what Rogue said. When you've experienced both (not uncommon, considering...

I agree with Mick's points, but I wonder, if we wouldn't defend the graffiti thing publically, and oppose his alleged act of domestic violence, what's the point in supporting him at all? I don't think he needs money...

Please read the above post again. I would hardly say that I was "praising" the guy. It's just that I won't prejudge the extent of what he did, and NOTE that encouragement of such behavior leads to actual physical assault or far worse . I don't see how hoping that somebody was on "the other side" could be construed as "praise".

While from the report it’s unclear to what degree Monson physically assaulted his partner, there seems to be little doubt that he definitely went on a rampage and trashed the house. Considering that this can be perceived as an act of intimidation (whether he intended it to be or not), I don’t think it should be ruled out that some form of domestic violence might have taken place. Even if he never placed a hand on his partner, there are...

Would anyone do a "public defense" campaign around a spraypainting incident anyway? I think he is involved with some group in the Northwest, shouldn't this be an internal thing with his direct comrades than some internet peanut gallery rush to condemn or exonerate him based on...?
