Started 8 months, 3 weeks ago by Jen Isenhart
Hi there. This is warning for all you freelance shooters and crews out there. The company, "On the Scene Productions" is regularly hiring crews for shoots and then not paying the bill.
We are one such company. We did a shoot for them back in July of 2008. We required half down, as they were a new client. We performed the shoot to their satisfaction, but they still (9 months later) ...

We need to get the word out to a broader audience. They owe me as well as many many other freelancers I know. As all of us know, we are all getting the run around. OTSP has no intention to pay even though they say they will pay. They are barely keeping their head above water after they pay their own full-time staff.
I know it can be hard to turn down jobs these days, but this ...
Add me to the list of companies that have not been paid since December 2008. I was able to contact Jeff Gordon, who responded by saying that they were having a big shake up within the company and had lost their CEO. I have not heard from him since. DO NOT WORK FOR ON THE SCENE PRODUCTIONS unless you like working for free!

Hello fellow production professionals:
In September 2008, I was booked very last minute for a shoot with OTSP to serve as a one-day VNR producer in Charlotte, NC. There was no time to haggle over a deposit (my normal policy is 50% up front).
Fast-forward nine months and I am in the same boat as all of you.
The very lengthy email correspondence I've had with Jeff Gordon (Accounts ...
Still waiting to get paid from OTSP. Jeff Gordon has given me all the excuses. If anyones wants executives phone numbers (direct business, cellphone and home), I have them.

After nine months, we were finally paid by On the Scene Productions. I spoke with Maya Burghardt, the Senior VP and General Manager out of L.A. If someone needs her email, contact me.
After a lengthy exchange, she finally sent a check. I don't know if others will be so lucky. I would require 100% payment up front from On the Scene if they approach you for a shoot.

I worked for OTSP one day last December and still haven't been paid, despite multiple invoices and phone calls.
Yesterday finally heard from Jeff Gordon. He said OTSP is in "negotiations" with a bank and, if all goes well, they will send out letters to everyone they owe money to outlining payment plans.
Does not sound good at all.
If you're a freelancer, I'd pass on accepting work...
As of summer 2009 On The Scene Productions is in big $$$ trouble. and they keep screwing producers, tech people to makeup artists.
Any client of On The Scene Productions reading this needs to STOP doing business with them IMMEDIATELY! We are working to produce your projects and when you pay your bill - THEY AREN'T PAYING US! They won't even acknowedlge those they owe money to!

Still no pay. I did get a call from Jeff Gordon last month regarding the "bank loan." Still no letter detailing my payment plan. This has to stop. If they file for bankruptcy, we are all screwed. We NEED TO SCREW WITH THEM. I have ALL their contact numbers. When I mean all, I'm talking email, direct office, cell phone and HOME phone numbers. I've about reached my limit.
They recently...

Michael, we finally received payment almost a year after we conducted a location shoot for On the Scene Productions. I made repeated telephone calls and emails to Michael Farr and Jeff Gordon with no luck. I finally managed to get payment after calling and emailing repeatedly to their General Manager in Los Angeles, Maya Burghardt. Her contact information is listed on their website. Or, if you shoot me an email, I will provide you with her...
