Thread: WWYD? One or two?

Started 1 month, 1 week ago by chrisrunty
My LO is a good sleeper... 8:30 pm to 7:30 am 95% of the time... but we are in this nap transition thing and I can't decide which is better. He starts rubbing those eyes around 10:30.. and if I put him down he'll sleep 1 hour or so and will want another nap around 3:30 for 2 hrs or so. If I keep him up until after lunch and put him down at 12:30 he'll sleep until 3:30 or 4:00. WWYD? Two naps...

One nap later in the morning works best for us because if LO sleeps too late in the afternoon then it is harder to put him to bed at night.

I'd go with 1. For me, that made for a happier baby. He also sleeps longer and ( I think) more soundly at night.

1 nap is awesome, and it was a surprisingly easy transition.  We have been doing 1 nap for months.  To transition I just keep him awake through the morning nap, then feed him lunch and put him down to nap at 12, now our schedule has changed a little and it's usually 1 that he takes his nap and it's usually at least 2 hours.  He still sleeps at night from 8pm-7am.

1 nap for us is wonderful.  he sleeps about 12-3 some times longer.  and then goes to bed around 8-9.  He has never been a great sleeper so going to 1 nap helped him alot.

My DD has had sleep troubles for as long as I can remember.  I would suggest that if no matter what you do, he still sleeps well at night and goes down easily at night - then do whatever is best for you!   I would give almost anything to be able to have her nap consistently 3 hours a day no matter what I do.  I am lucky if she takes her one nap easily and sleeps for 1 hour.  Many times she just ...

I'm thinking we need to start going the one nap route, because its getting harder to put DD for the second nap, because I try to do it so she'll be up by 4 so bedtime isn't a problem. I'd think that one nap a little later on would be better for her, so maybe for you too.

Thanks a lot ladies! Maddie I think I do notice that with one nap he falls asleep quicker and sleeps a bit longer at night.... so I'm thinking one nap is probably best since we are heading that way anyway.

We are still doing 2 naps.  One about an hour and a half to two hours after she wakes up.  The other in the afternoon around 2 or 3.  They both are usually 45 min to an hour and a half long though.  It depends on how tired she is.
