Thread: [WWK] New Jace or Sarkhan confirmed (probably Jace)
Started 2 months, 2 weeks ago by petalred
I'm at the Alliance/Diamond trade show this week, and I went to a Wizards Play Network seminar earlier today, during which they confirmed that Worldwake will feature a "new card for one of the most popular planeswalkers." I don't have a way to transfer photos from my camera to a computer and I don't have a regular camera so I didn't bother taking pictures of their power point presentation (which...
Are we certain that the card is in question is one that has already been printed as a planeswalker? I don't want to stir the pot at all (and there's a lot more evidence that the planeswalker would be either Jace or Sarkhan), but unless they say it exlicitly, I can think of some planeswalkers a touch more popular than the aforementioned.

Can I interpret this as new art?
The way it read and they way they said it would indicate to me that it's a new planeswalker card for a character that has already had a planeswalker card. I could very well be wrong, but I think they spoke misleadingly if I am.
As for Necrotic Sliver, no, it had original art, which is how I recognized it.
Jace would give Chandra's card some symmetry in the set as well, I would assume him. Vol seems somewhat boring is his new role in that comic thing anyway.
I honestly hope that it is Vol, becuase at least Jace has a contructed viable card already.
Sarkaan Vol is arguably the most powerful PW cards in regards to his CC vs his 3 abilities and their cost in counters...it's too bad that protecting yourself became the definition of what a good PW should do. Garruk and Elspeth make blockers, Ajani destroys or taps them out....and Jace, well nobody ...
I play blue so I hope it's Jace. Just want something fun and viable, not something like the new Chandra.
Control magic, ponder, brainstorm, but most of all somehow make it counter spells.
I feel fairly confident that the phrasing ("new card," especially) indicates someone who's already received a PW card. Given the options, Jace seems by far the most likely to me.
petalred, thanks for the info! Did they provide any other info about Worldwake?
let the speculation begin! THIS WOULD BE TERRIFIC IF ITS JACE!
Jace, The future seer
+1: put a 0/1 illusion toke on the field with "sacrifice this creature: counter target spell"
-3: take an extra turn after this one
-7: return all permanents target player controls to their hand, draw 5 cards, take an extra turn after this one.
loyalty: 3
my new jace's idea is, ...

The point that I was trying to demonstrate was that this is all stuff that HAS ALREADY HAPPENED to Nissa. We speculated out the wazoo that she was going to be :g::b: in her first appearance. Lo, she shows up as Mono-Green. I'm not even getting into the debate about Chandra's colors that everyone and his mother was tossing around when they heard Chandra was coming back.

You can have both of the Akromas out at the same time. THAT'S...

GatheringMagic just mocks up random rumored cards with "found" art. Seeing a card image that comes from there doesn't confirm in either direction the card's truth or falsity. In this case, though, without a source that just seems like someone's speculation based on our info from the Intro packs.
Ade: Sweet! Thanks! I have to believe he was going to say Worldwake (or else it would have been the next block). And it's exciting enough, since any ACTUAL data on WWK has yet to come out.

Those kinds of inconsistencies in flavor during gameplay. It would be nice if Legendaries had type lines too, but considering we rarely see multiples (I know; Ashling, Akroma, That dwarf guy that turns into a zombie, Crovax, Braids, etc.), it doesn't REALLY make...
