Thread: WSS 3.0 asking for password when I try to open documents

I changed passwords for some administration accounts, and now when I'm trying to open documents, that are located in WSS 3.0, sharepoint ask me to enter password, when I click cancel it ask me again for username and password, after second cancel document is opening. Where I can set passwords and accounts for sharepoint? I think there is some security account problem between sharepoint and ...

HI, Which type of authentication you are using (Windows, Forms)? Whether you make alternate access mapping for your site? Check this two things.

Whether y make alternate access mapping? Do following thing open IE --> Tools -->Internate Options-->Security --> Custom level --> Scroll Go to logon and select third option automatic logon with current username and password and apply changes Your Problem will definitely get solved. :)

You may have to check the account credentials on the IIS Application Pools of the Web Application you used. You may also have to verify all the service accounts - to see if you used the old administrative username and password which you changed. I believe that these two may give you a clue to the source of the problem.

you dont need to change the passwords. AD will send the info to SharePoint

A little lost in this thread... but it sounds like you have two questions. 1) Here's an article i wrote previously on how to change passwords for Service Accounts for SharePoint  (this one is server related) 2) Here's an article I wrote to stop the double prompt for documents  (this one is client related) Hope they help.

you dont need to change the passwords. AD will send the info to SharePoint
