Thread: WEDDINGBELLS Message Board Community: Safe Facial Cleansers While Preggers???

Started 1 month, 3 weeks ago by MelanieB
Hi Ladies, I have been using Avon's Clear Skin Professional for well over a year now. I realized this morning that this may not be the safest product to use. I was hoping you ladies could clear this up for me. I have tried doing a little research, but I am finding conflicting reports. What products do you ladies use that are safe??? TIA

I just use Kiss My Face olive oil soap. All natural, and doesn't make me break out!

Can I ask where you buy it from?

Safe from what? Does it get into your blood somehow? I used some of Avon's Clearskin line (blackhead astringent & the overnight blemish solution) throughout my pregnancy. Worked well for me.

I haven't changed my facial care routine. Same facewashes as always. I don't feel that something soaking into my face can have any effect on my unborn child. (unless of course it was something heavily medicated from a specialist, but anything you can buy from the drug store I consider safe) If that was the case, we'd have to be careful about everything we touch. (AKA Sani-Gel would ...

I really never thought about a facial cleanser NOT being safe...unless it's something like ProActive or something medicated/prescribed.

Yea they say no Salcylic Acid, when I told my doctor I was using it she was concerned, so be sure what your using does not contain that or Retinol's.

I would think anything alcohol based would be one you would want to stay away from. I heard hand sanitizers with alcohol is a no no

Thanks ladies. Yes, I ask because it does contain salicylic acid.

Watch the avon clear skin professional, I had to stop using as my doctor says to watch for anything that has retinol in it, and I LOVE the avon stuff, but it has retinol. On that note, if any of you girls are using Bio Oil, be careful as it too has retinol in it. I know they say on the bottle that it can be used during pregnancy, but retinol studies have shown retinol to cause birth ...

Hey, I buy it from Superstore in the health food/natural aisle. Seems expensive for a bar of soap, but the bars are giant size.

I used Aveeno Anti-breakout stuff while I was pregnant. I read on these board about salycylic (spelling??!) acid, and since the Aveeno stuff contains it, I got all paranoid, and asked my Dr. She looked at me like I had two heads & said it was fine - using it once a day topically is fine. Don't ingest it, of course, but the chance of it being absorbed topically is just about...nil. I took her advice, then when I started seeing the...
