Oh I am having a blast listening to this Labor Day special! They are into the final 50 now and some very surprising things are a lot higher than I would have thought. Must be the New York City twist on favorites.
Here is what they have played over the last 2 hours:
2:47 PM "ONCE IN A LIFETIME" - TALKING HEADS
2:41 PM "SYMPATHY FOR THE DEVIL" - ROLLING STONES
2:36 PM "1979" - ...
What's the number on the dial?
A few years back, we were driving home from Pennsylvania on a Sunday and they were doing a top-1000 countdown on this weird oldies "rock" station. The songs they were playing were so bizarre to us that we actually pulled over at a rest stop to see what number 1 would be (we were losing the signal). Guess what it was? "Theme from A Summer Place" by the Percy ...

LOL!
So some guy just called in and asked why he hadn't heard "Freebird" this weekend and promptly got smacked by the DJ!
Not moving I need to hear the top 10.

Bruce Juice Thunder Road
my personal fave of Springsteen's
The screen door slams, Mary's dress waves
Like a vision she dances across the porch as the radio plays
Roy Orbison singing for the lonely
Hey that's me and I want you only
Don't turn me home again
I just can't face myself alone again
Don't run back inside, darling you know just what I'm here for
So you're ...
i'm here and waiting........ and yes my personal bruce fave too is thunder road....and a day in the life is always right up there. petty, stones, it's all good.
This was an awesome list! Thanks for posting. I had the pleasure of seeing Paul McCartney perform Band on the Run live this July in NY. I was never a Wings fan before but I am a convert now that I've heard it live. I saw Bruce in Kansas City last year and he amazed, as always. Both of those guys have some years on them but you've never know that either one is over 35 when you see them live -- each played for HOURS and totally rocked....
I agree with most in the top ten except the Smith's and The Clash as #1. If i was gonna pick a Clash song it would be "Should I Stay Or Should I Go" For me the #1 song, excluding Led Zep, for Lawren , is "One Way Out" by The Allman Brothers.
