No drive indicates upper and lower filters problem OR Chipset problem.
And To those who flame before thinking it DOES APPLY to windows7.
There are no "drivers" per se for CD/DVD drives.

Hi, I have a vostro 1500 and I upgraded to Win7 this past weekend and have now realized that I do not have a dvd drive. I looked for it in device manager, nothing's showing up in my computer. I tried downloading the driver from dell's website but they have it all messed up apparently and it doesn't work. I have the driver cd that came with the comp but it's of no use to me atm. Is there ...

i tried running the utility to tell me exactly which chipset i have, but it doesn't work. so i flipped through things and found i have a
Mobile Intel(r) PM965/GM965/GL960 Express root port
i think this is it? i dont know for sure but i tried updating it and nothing new, any way to find out what exactly my chipset is or another solution?

bump, i made pulled the drive out of my laptop and everything seems fine, still doesn't work tho
