Thread: Voice Chat is not that big of deal

Started 2 years ago by PS360WII
Honestly I don't see why people are making such a hurumph over it. When the next article comes out for Mario Kart and it not supporting voice chat and I see all those comments all I can think of is those South Park or Monty Python spots where its just a bunch of people shouting "rabble rabble rabble" If voice chat was so extremly important Sony would have a headset standard. Along with ...

...what if your in a lobby hosting a game and you are wondering what people want to play? i mean the racial slurs and everything can get annoying but its how you communicate. <message edited by snoop_dizzle on Thursday, February 28, 2008 1:29 PM>

Because of X-box Live I don't need to pay for a telephone or a Cell phone... Thanks for helping me fight the Man bill gates!

I have to disagree with you on this one... Not that I have been trying to go against everything you say of lately you do make good points... I just got rid of my 360 and the one thing I really miss from it is that not everyone has a head set... it is really useful for games like COD4 and RB6V and poker and that... but as far as a racing game goes like Mario Kart I agree that is not that ...

Maybe one of the text bubbles is 'new map'. How do all the PS3 gamers with no headset do what they do in the lobby. I just go to the map I want to in the lobbies.

How do all the PS3 gamers with no headset do what they do in the lobby. I just go to the map I want to in the lobbies. it can be done but its far easier to use a headset....trust me. Its definetly important if you are playing with a bunch of friends. Of course i guess it depends what you are playing online. <message edited by snoop_dizzle on ...

Yes it is nice to talk to people, but I guess I'm just pointing out that much like not having multiplayer in a game it's not going to kill off anything. You can still make good single player games and you can still have enjoyable online experience without chatting.

snoop_dizzle replied 2 years ago
You're completely missing the point. online play is supposed to be easy to use, have a lot of features, be intuitive, everything. Personally if i have friends online....i want to talk to them. And im sure most people are with me on this. And There are annoying people, and if their are turn the mic off. I do that sometimes. wouldnt that be kinda pointless to take aways that ...

True enough but I guess when taking a step back and looking at it we all know it only takes one to ruin it for everyone. Voice chat has it's advantages but those select few who make it nearly umbearable ruin it for so many. Nintendo seeing it that way just eliminates the middle man and says you talk this way so to avoid harmful publicity much like LIVE is getting even on the news front....

Though i hate hearing other people babble about pointless things and singing, I do however want to be able to communicate with my friends privately. Add's more mileage to the game and gives me a chance to catch up with my friends while gaming. Most of my best times playing online was with voice chatting. I don't think the feature would be any use on the wii since voice chatting is the gamers tool...

True enough but I guess when taking a step back and looking at it we all know it only takes one to ruin it for everyone. again turn off the mic then.....also in alot of games you can kick a person if they get that bad Its a necessary downside. I would rather have voice chat and choose not to use it in certian instances, instead of it not existing at all. On the wii...

The word need is pretty subjective. I don't need to talk to anyone. Actually when i'm not with a clan in multiplayer games i usually don't unless there is a good party. I can have a good game without a mic more than with a mic because i get easily distracted. and thats the wonderful thing about it....you dont have to use it cant we all jsut get along?

Games that require stratagy I'll agree with you on that needing voice chat. I suppose this thread I started is more of a rant than anything. Sometimes playing online games with no voice chat is like playing an irregular AI but it's still nice to know it's a human on the other end. In any event it seems the friends I do have on my systems for the majority have different play scheduals them me...

Maybe the wii is inferior in your opinion thats not what i claimed. but battalion wars could use some voice chat but people rather pick on mario kart for some odd reason....Mario kart doesnt need it...but some games do. if talking can improve the gameplay then its welcome..but in a game like mario kart i really dont see the point of it.

Let's keep it clean ppl! I don't want to actually have to do my job, ok? I personally don't think voicechat is suitable for every type of game. I don't think that one game genre having voicechat should set a precedent that every game genre should have it. I fail to see how Mario Kart not having voicechat is an indication that the Wii hardware as a whole is incapable of such a thing,...

ORIGINAL: sidar but its not every surprising that wii cant seem to support it because of it lower hardware. outspoken, i suggest you stay away from Wii topics. why you ask? if you had a bit of common sense you would know how wrong your claim is. DS did Voice chat. lower hardware.... i doubt that. you are no HARDWARE pro like anyone else on this website. i can bet on it that NO gamer on N4G knows what each console can do with their hardware....

Shut up kid. If you're seriously that much of a Nintendo ball-licker that you can't see that having no voice chat is stupid, then... Enjoy your Apple PS2. You do realise that most of us wii owners have either ps3's or 360's..... Just because we own a wii that doesnt mean we only own nintendo products. How stupid are some of you guys? I bet you are one of those people that speak so...

Voice chat isn't a big deal to me either, I never used it. What IS a big deal, is a decent friend's list system. This code **** Nintendo insists on using is getting old quick. Please do away with those long codes that only Will Hunting himself could memorize.

ORIGINAL: sidar outspoken, "the "stfu" argument... " argument? no i just said STFU, it goes for everyone..... you know **** about any hardware, you are no developer so dont make any false claims. ive already debunked your claim when i said "DS did Voice chat."...you see DS is not even close...more like FAR away to Wii's hardware specs. im not pissed im just telling you to STFU. and dont talk about logic,...
