Thread: Virgin 1 - 24 hours - or perhaps not?

Started 1 month, 3 weeks ago by Lawrence
I understood (from the Radio Times etc) that Virgin-1 was now 24 hours. Last night I 'recorded' two programmes at 0400 only to find that it said 'no service' for the entire period. What is happening?

Virgin 1 is no longer 24 hours on Freeview, It's available from 9am to 3am, this is because Virgin Media Television are renting out 3am to 9am to one of the girls-on-sofa-porn-channels . http://www.freeview.co.uk/freeview/C...inment/Virg in1

I believe another tart on a sofa channel is responsible for this.

Yes, Virgin 1 is no longer 24 hours on Freeview, they have recently sold off six hours (3am - 9am) of the slot to some adult phone-in show, with programmes continuing as normal on Sky and Virgin Media. It's absolutely disgusting behaviour from Virgin Media Television, and even more so as that Challenge Jackpot crap continues to air 12am - 3am as well. Virgin 1 on Freeview is ...

Any more "babes on a bed" channels and I am going to start calling it "Birdview" - and not the type of birds that Bill Oddie likes to watch. Utterly bad news for those who like quiz shows (the proper ones, not the call in at a £1 a minute ones) because aside from repeats of Millionaire, they're shown in the morning whilst Virgin1 is off air. Casino games and "babes on...

I was hoping to video the Scrabble programme, but saw there was nothing. In fact, I have no idea what the Virgin 1 broadcasting times are in Wales. The EPG says one thing and Virgin1 broadcast another thing.

Looks like money is in short supply at V1 ... the current schedule is taking big backward steps. Perhaps they can no longer afford the terrestrial rights for Seinfeld and can only broadcast on Sat ... If the bandwidth limitations didn't apply most if all of the above channels would expand their Freeview hours.
