Thread: Version 6.8 versus 6.9 versus 6.14

Started 1 month, 4 weeks ago by mosk
I want to install Drupal but wasn't clear on whether to install version 6.14 as is listed at drupal.org or version 6.8 as listed at drupal.org/drupal-6.8 (or as version 6.9 available from http://www.chsoftware.net/en/useware/mowesmixer/mo wesmixer.htm?step=2 ) Do 6.8 and 6.9 represent SVN versions or less stable developer versions? Thanks

See the drupal.org front page for an unambiguous declaration.

I saw the 6.14 download on the drupal.org front page; I assume that's what you mean by unambiguous declaration. The problem is 6.8 and 6.9 are also available, and I didn't see any indication that these were SVN or developer versions. Can anyone clarify this for me? Thanks

Most projects allow access to outdated versions, and Drupal is no different. If you install 6.8, you will get reminders (and probably pretty hysterical security alerts) to upgrade to 6.14. It looks like the host you referenced has not updated its installation tool. I've seen that on other hosts too. On the other hand, if you're just playing around to see how it functions, go ahead!

Sorry . . . somehow I kept looking at version 6.14 and thinking it meant 6.1.4; that's why it didn't make sense that the 'newer' versions 6.8 and 6.9 weren't available on the main drupal.org page. Brain finally thawed and makes sense now. 6.14! Thanks.

"Six point fourteen", not "six point one four." Maybe even call it "Six DOT fourteen." Yeah, that's the ticket.
