Thread: Verizon's anti-iPhone gets its first commercial: 'Droid Does'

As much as I want there to be something to dethrone the iPhone (I love the iPhone itself, but hate that it's stuck on the worst network I've had any experience with personally), I'm tired of the drama that the marketing has created. I like that they're being sort of aggressive and confident about the product, but like someone said before, many have tried, and many have failed. I, personally, ...
Anyone know what kind PC/Mac connectivity this thing will have? They definitely need to have something better than the crapware Motorola and Verizon have had for their phones in the past if they want to be better than iPhone.
Word around howard forums, this phone (droid that is) is going for... $579 Full Retail $299 w/ new 2yr contract $149 w/ NE2 & rebate SOLD! I'm currently sitting on the timeframe to upgrade anyways. If it really is 149.99, I'll have it on day 1.

Unfortunately, there's currently no good Mac sync solution for Android outside of syncing your contacts with gmail....

There is a lot of evidence pointing to a Nov 6th release, but we should know for sure on the 28th after the official announcement. For example, a full page ad in the San Diego Union Tribune newspaper last Friday lists "11.06.09"

If the Droid will do Google Voice calls over Wifi and allow me to use data for GChat instead of SMS I am game. Doing all that right now with iPhone 3GS 3.1.2 JB

If you just call, be friendly, and get a decent CSR, they'll put you on hold and get permission to give you an early upgrade. You won't get your $50 discount for NE2, but you'll get the 2 year contract price. I know from experience. Well, that's cool then
Quote, originally posted by VW parking only » Whoever I talk to having a bad day, I complain that I can't upgrade, so they'd transfer me to the retention department, but however, if I get somebody on a bad day, they'll just cancel my service then. Gotta be careful! LOL Most likely you'll never make it to retention unless you're threatening to cancel. If you just call, be friendly, and get a decent CSR,...
My first post from my droid! Keyboard is growing on me.. its not difficult to gain speed on it.. I think the biggest hurdle is the awkward right hand position while typing. Screen is awesome. Most apps work just fine. Os seems pretty stable but I had to cycle power once.

good comparison photos between the iphone and droid. they both produce very different things, and it's not just a megapixel difference..... http://www.flickr.com/photos/a...02533 /
yeah that sucks hard.... I'm shocked to see that with a 5mp camera you can't come up with a better picture. I use my camera phone pics alot to send clients, and the iphone ones are exactley what I'd like to send, the driod ones would have to be opened in photoshop and adjusted a whole lot, making it just as long as using a PNS...
