Thread: Vag Com serial interface problems

OK, So it looks like its an out of date cable and I was lucky to get any comm's at all. bit confused though because cars that it has been used on show same interfaces as my VRS accept I have additional comms (micro can.) i guess i should just buy a newer cable as suggested, i see others have had success with Ebay cables (i don't want to open that can of worms) as disussed in other threads i am just tinkering. WKB

The compatibility list only applies to currently sold Ross-Tech hardware , it does not list discontinued Ross-Tech hardware or 3rd party hardware. As stated by mannyo already you seem to have either an older interface from us (what does the label on the interface say?) or (which is more likely) a 3rd party interface. 3rd party/eBay hardware will not work on the 1Z at all, neither will it work with any VCDS version newer than 409.
