Started 4 months, 1 week ago by MonsterTDI09
VW recalling 13,500 vehicles over transmission Volkswagen of America is recalling 13,500 vehicles to fix problems with a dual-clutch transmission that could lead to a warning on the dashboard. The recall affects 2009 model year and a limited number of 2010 Jetta, Jetta SportsWagen, GTI and Eos vehicles built between September 2008 and August 2009. Volkswagen says some of the vehicles ...

I just spoke to VW and they stated this is a "voluntary" recall and that owners affected will be notified in the next 2 - 3 weeks. They have no VIN detail at this time but suggested that all owners go to VW's website and click on the "Owner" information link and then click recalls and enter your VIN. If you do it now, it will NOT show up until VW loads the VINs into their database according to ...

The 13.5K figure seems a bit low for the number of cars recalled.

Just called and the rep checked my vin xxx255925 build 07/08 and said mine was not affected. Must be the DSG problems I have are normal and to be expected. She did say that letters are going out in 2 to 3 weeks as well.

Wow. I'm impressed this happened as quickly as it did.

I don't own a TDI anymore but I thought I would add something here since I have personal experience with this problem. It seems that this problem did cluster to a group of VINs, for whatever reason. Unless VW chooses to release the information, it is unlikely we will ever know if it was a batch of bad sensors or a clustering of bad installations. Regardless, my concern if I owned one would be...

07/08 build for me, so guess I'm out of the 'recall'. Mixed feelings as I'd have liked a free DSG oil change, but it is probably not a bad idea to leave well enough alone as I've had no real DSG issues...

Kind of wish I had already had my 10K service if my car is part of the recall. I would get a free DSG oil interval ...

David, yes...they should be able to hook up your car to their computer and see what "version" of TCM program resides in your TCM. k1xv - one would think...logically, that if the TCM is reflashed, it defaults all adaptive learning (if it really does exist) back to a brand new tranny that's never been driven and must "learn" all over again. This is an argument posed by some on this forum that it's...

That's your replacement mechatronics, right? I don't think my original mechatronics, in Tip, dropped into 1st until almost a dead stop. In S, yes, it would drop to 1st at 12-1300rpm in 2nd (5-10 mph).

Got the flash yesterday, and I've driven about 125 miles with it. I was fortunate and have not had the Blinking PRNDS fail, but after a few had said that drivability improved, I quickly scheduled the flash. So far, MAYBE there's some difference. I do lots of both city and highway driving. Less "clunking" so far, but not entirely gone. Definitely some abrupt shifts happening though. I wish there were more notes...

Dropped mine off this morning for the flash. They got it done in record time, I'll find out if it makes any difference when I pick it up. Interestingly enough, they suggested doing the first service while it was there. It has 9K kms on it. I asked why when the book said to do the first one at 15K kms(I think, it's been a while since I read it). He said yes that's what the book says but they are recommending doing the first one...

El Dobro, I'd sure like to drive your car to see what it feels like. I assume you've asked for a demo drive of a similarly equipped new car to see if there is a difference. If so, just take a mechanic for a quick ride in your car, then one on the lot on an identical route. Presto.
