Thread: Using my brand new carseat/stroller before I do..

Started 2 months, 2 weeks ago by stacia kat
So my husbands brother and his wife and their 7 month old are coming to visit along with my other in-laws in 2 weeks, only for 6 days, but they asked and my crazy husband offered for them to use our carseat and stroller.  I freaked out! Our baby is not even here yet, this carseat/stroller was just purchased from my parents as their gift to us.  And I want to be the first to use it with our baby....

What would they do if you had the baby early?  I think they need to at least bring their own car seat.  Its not like you can say wait baby...your car seat is being used by someone else!!!

I totally get what your saying. Also with 2 weeks left until your due date you may actually have your baby and they will be out of luck anyway. Pointing that out might come across better than I don't want your baby to  take the newness away(not that I disagree with that). Tell them with it being so close you would be stressing about not having it available should you need it.

tell them u would but your afraid if your baby does come early u will need it. it being so close to your due date and all, you need to stay prepared. it cant be off with someone else if you happen to go in labor (the carseat). they need to be prepared to travel just like you need to be prepared to have everything for baby readily available. its yours. dont feel bad to say no.

I would be SO pissed. That carseat and stroller are for you and your baby, NOT for other people to use.

Also traveling they could bring a unbrella stroller or by when get there for under 20....

If they are traveling they should at least bring there car seat. Expecially as you are due so soon. If you end up having your baby there going to be SOL.  And I don't blame you about not wanting to use your new stuff.  I just got done taking appart and washing all my car seat and stoller from my first son...  You don't need to be trying to complete that if he gets sick in it or makes a mess that...

I would be so pissed. Do you have a friend or family member that you can take it to until they leave? I would do that if you can.

I can see my own husband not thinking and doing something like that! I would be upset too!  I totally get it, it is a sentiment and control thing.  Sorry you have to deal with this!

It's a big deal. Are they going to replace it if there is a car accident? How are they traveling at all? 7 month old should be in a car seat on the plane/car ride. No, it's not your job to let them use your stuff. Call them and say: "I'm sorry but I can't let you use the car seat and stroller. DH didn't ask or run this decision by me and it was a gift to us from my parents."

if you can afford it go get them a really cheap stroller. That's what I would do.
