Thread: Uh oh, burning question about birth control.

ok.. so heres my deal: Im on birth control.... but this past weekend i forgot to take it home with me when i left for thanksgiving.. thats 4 days without it.. and as of this morning i got my period! the problem with that is i only had it like a week or week and a half ago..... sooo what am i supposed to do? take my pills anyway..or have this my sugar pill week and start with a fresh pack when im done menstruating? Thanks !!

take your pills anyway! you're making it less effective by having a sugar week when you're not supposed to. just keep on taking the pills as soon as you can, and use condoms for 7 days afterwards.

I'm on birth control too and I've accidently skipped days before. Definitely keep taking the pills. Sorry about your problem, spotting sucks. =(

What you're experiencing is called 'breakthrough bleeding'. I have had it before when I missed 2 days on my pill. My doctor told me to just let the bleeding finish and then start over, otherwise you can stuff up your cycle. Until then - condoms!

Arent you supposed to start a new pack when you miss that many? I know I am late to the convo. If you havent already, do not have sex without back-up control. The pill wont work as well. I'm paranoid so I have read my pamphlet a zillion times, lol. What's funny since I am reading this, is I forgot to take my pill this week and was a few hours late the next day. I never forget, I think b/c I was sick and just forgot. Just missing...

Definately use a back up method continue using the pills as if you are not bleeding and do not have sex until the next pack.
