Which one is guilty? "the x64 version of windows 7 causes freezing of the system" "I am pretty sure that the problem is in the chipset/motherboard" I'm running W7 x64 on a AMD ATHLON 64 X2 4Gb RAM on a Sapphire Mobo. I do NOT have any problems with freezes.

Well they might both be guilty. But to be a bit more specific it's probably a driver issue of the mobo/chipset. And indeed some people do not have this problem but more and more reports are coming in of people with this issue.

I doubt it has anything to do with win 7, i've it install on both of my rig and both is detected without the aid of any drivers CD. Most likely your issue has to do with some other factor

Hi, DvanW. To echo Zeus76: > I'm running W7 x64 on a AMD ATHLON 64 X2 4Gb RAM on a Sapphire Mobo. Except mine is a 3-year-old EPoX (EP MF570sli) mobo. > I do NOT have any problems with freezes. Ditto. When I did have multiple disasters (in Vista Ultimate x64) last year, the problem turned out to be either faulty or mismatched DRAM sticks. OCZ had y could be sure that the replacements ...

It's a problem mainly among mobo's with a Nvidia chipset (MSI for example). And if you search this forum you will find plenty of people with USB problems. It's also one of the last unsolved problems on this windows7 website http://windows7tipsonline.com/USB_Problem.htm I really hope somebody comes up with a solution (this might also be Nvidia or MSI :-))

I tested the solution from DvanW and I can say that it really works! Finally a solution to this issue! I hope that Microsoft and companies try to fix this with a patch for the regular user. Thank you so much!

Applied the hofix, but now I cannot complete the Windows experience Index, it fails after the Aero test. "Cannot complete assessment. The assessment or other operation did not complete successfully. This is due to an error being reported from the operating system, driver, or other component." So what has this hotfix affected? Howard Windows experience Index completed without problems after hotfix here too. Must be something...
