Yeah, when you agree to give huge consessions to their competators, then demand more from them when the contract comes up, well... Guess those contracts can just end and Ford can go the way of Toyota and other companies that don't drag around the dead weight of the UAW and maybe beat the pants off of Geriatric Motors.

Everybody seems to like to pile on when the subject of unios comes up. Can anyone tell me how much the hourly pay is for an average Ford line worker is? Just the hourly pay. not the medical/pension/vacation ect cost. What is the take home paycheck that they can take to the grocery store on friday. I would like to really know if they are out of line to ask for more.

Apparently Ford just announced posting a freakin' profit last quarter. What?! Seriously? The plan used to be being profitable in 2011. Freakin' Mullaly. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/03/business/03auto. html So, maybe the UAW knows what they're doing.

Thanks BlackBelt. That seems to be pretty good income in that part of the world.

The UAW is probably going to use Ford Swings To 3Q Profit, Boost 2011 Guidance , but one mildly profitable quarter does not make a company solvent.
