Hia, Having read the thread and lots of other besides as well as the OC forum here. I am still having problems getting my chip to OC past 3.7 ghz stable. It does not seem to be the RAM as this can be OC to 1153 Mhz with 5,5,5,15 System: Windows XP CPU: E8200 MB: DFI Lanparty DK X38 TR2 2 gb RAM : Dual channel DDR2 OCZ Reaper - 1066Mhz Stock Cooler Bios – Latest version from DFI...

Welcome to the forums Without looking at the settings, what you say about the memory not working in dual channel is quite worrying. Do you have some other memory to try? It could also be a bad slot or faulty memory controller. First of all, grab memtest86+ V2.xx and run test 5 on each stick individually, make sure the memory is set to whatever the manufacturer recommends for both ...

Comp wont boot due to C1 error if: 1.Either stick of RAM occupies either of the 2 ram slots furthest from the CPU. I therefore cannot test dual channel mode Settings are stock (CPU and RAM ): 2.1V, 333/1066,DDR2 1066 MHz 5, 5, 5, 15 I reckon that screams motherboad problem - there is an orange light on above and central to the ram slots on the Mobo next to the ...

Sounds like a faulty board then, RMA time

Kelainefes replied 1 year, 1 month ago
Did you try manually increasing the tRFC top over 70? And after that try dual channel. Or you could try another kit of memory if you have one.

Thanks very much for the responses , hopefully we can pick this thread up when this board get sorted - I still think I should be able to get the board stable at 3.8Ghz (maybe 4) - its stable at 3.7 in single channel mode so I dont think dual channel RAM will make a difference to overclocking?

Hi, I'll get on that asap, I've been so busy with work its nuts, would you say then at 3.6Ghz I've probably reached my amateur OC limit then? I though it would be possible to breath on 4Ghz with this CPU? or do I need to ditch the quirky DDR3 to get more in sync with my capabilities?

I've merged all those posts together. If you don't know what you are doing, my advice to you is to leave the GTL Ref setting as disabled and go as far as you can without it, this will simplify things a lot. If you really want to accurately tweak the GTL ref settings, you are going to need a good quality DMM and measure the voltages yourself, this is the only way to do it. The charts that are posted in the BIOS guide were done by DFI...

i found that 3.6ghz was when i really needed to start upping the vcore to keep it stable with my 8200. not 100% but from what i can recall i needed about 1.25v for 3.5 1.3v for 3.6 and i think it was 1.42v for 4ghz 450 is about the fsb where you might need to start playing with the chipset to get it to boot too. have you tried dropping the multi and just working on high fsb ?
