Thread: TruGlo TFO front sight on G19 install issue

Started 1 month, 2 weeks ago by kcbrown
I'm having a problem installing my new TruGlo TFO front sight onto my Glock 19. Maybe one of you guys has some suggestions. The problem is this: the tiny, thin hex screw that holds the sight in place will not screw in far enough to properly secure the sight. If you screw it into the sight's indexing pin directly with the sight removed from the slide, it doesn't quite come flush with...

Call TruGlo. I have installed anumber of Glock Sights and do not know what the "Indexing Pin" is. I wouldn't use a washer. Maybe a pic or two would help.

It sounds like your approach is fundamentally correct. I just would put a washer on it. I wonder if they sent the correct sight. Maybe the 9mm slide and the 45 slide are different.

I would call TruGlo, If you put a washer there, you may have an interferance problem.

Rather than edit my post. I will say that I somehow left out the "not". I just would not put a washer on it. I am sorry, if I pointed you the wrong way. I think I was thinking faster than I could type.

You stated that you "wouldn't use a washer" in your first post. Seems like he got a poorly machined sight. TruGlo has great CS dept, I am concerned about him using a file on the sight. This may hurt his chances of getting this replaced. But, TruGlo does stand behind their sights.

I had the same problem with one of the Dawson front sights. I put a pair of pliers on the front sight tool, and gave it a another quarter of a turn, and that did the trick. I've already put thousands of rounds through it, and not a wobble. Don't forget to apply Locktite first. GlockMonk

I tried calling TruGlo customer service ("technical support", actually) but got an answering machine. I left my name and number and all that, but didn't get a call back. Maybe they'll call on Monday. I guess we'll see. I didn't give a complete description of the problem on the answering machine. Perhaps I should have. I didn't try putting a washer in between for precisely the reasons ...

Has anyone here ever been able to get through to TruGlo via the phone? I've tried multiple times and nobody ever picks up. And they still haven't returned my call from Friday, so I'm becoming skeptical that they will return it at all. Hard to see how their customer support is so good when there doesn't seem to be any... :-(

Shot my G19 a couple of days ago with the new sights. The front sight appears to be staying put. I don't want to put too much force on it but the LocTite seems to be keeping the end with the dot on it from moving side to side (which would happen as a result of the sight rotating around the axis of the retaining screw). So I'd call this a success overall. I'd still like to know whether or not the front sight is supposed to be a...

Well I should of reviewed your post -- seems that you already tried the above mentioned remedy. I would just make sure the screw really is going all the way in and shorten it some more if you must.
