It's great stuff!  They gave me that stuff after my nipple fell off due to Mastitits.  It worked like a charm!

the lactation consultants at the hospital where I gave birth discouraged nipple cream.  I was using the Lansinoh lanolin cream and they said it can cause yeast infections on your nipples and then would pass on thrush to the baby.  :(  they gave me Ameda Hydrogel cooling pads and they are AMAZING.  Each set is good for up to 6 days.

Make sure that you clean it off before feeding.

Long story, but the gist is that I got a horrible Mastitis infection.  They gave me pain drugs and told me I'd have to pump through because  I was so engorged.  I took a pain pill, and pumped.  Fortunately, the pill made me not notice that in the process of pumping out, my nipple had split four ways (think of the old-fashioned cartoons where the bazooka misfires and splits).  The whole thing ...

Wait it needs to be prescribed? Why they always hoardin the good stuff. I used Lanolin last year too, and had no problems, but if this is better, I want in on it!!

Thanks for this. I had the worst split/ bleeding nipples with my dd, so I'm dreading the first few weeks of bfing. I'll go get it tomorrow!

MW said as long as it's fully absorbed you don't need to wash it. And it's got an anti-fungal in it (part of the triple part - anti-fungal anti-bacterial steroid) so no thrush. (and your nipple fell off! Yikes!)
