Started 2 months ago by KBeth

His mom's been "disabled" w/vague ailments for their entire 9 yr marriage. She's now had to resume driving and being self-sufficient. Her own family seems sick of helping her. Stepson exhibits limited sympathy too. She's ...

Next week my stepson will be evaluated by his therapist again and two days later he will meet a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner who specializes in pediatrics. Honestly, even my husband has noticed that my stepson tends to open up to me more than either of his parents. And his mother is frequently unaware of information my stepson has related to me(or also his dad) about his life. I suppose I'm ...

There is unfortunately a lack of uniformity in mental health care in America and that extends both to training and licensure. Be certain that you persoanlly are comfortable with who is handling this situation. And...good luck.

Well I am happy to report that my stepson is doing very well since starting Lexapro for his anxiety/depression two months ago. The biggest changes I see in him are increased self-confidence as well as a lighter mood in general. He enjoys spending time with us(instead of hiding out in his room alone) and seems to have his sense of humor back. He told me that he "just doesn't feel the withdrawal...
