Hi, I have been planning my DJ setup for a while now, and I am currently looking for a MIDI addition to TSP. I have been using my friend's of TSP for a while w/ keyboard and mouse and I adore it, even if I cant use headphones with it yet. Since I have gotten used to digital and because DJ setups are generally expensive, I have been thinking of purchasing a MIDI controller beforehand so I could ...

The Xone:1D or the Stanton SCS.3D would probably be better for your purposes.
This is true, however with what I ...
i thought someone else would pick up on this...
to my understanding you want to use midi controllers for now then go to a dvs and control all 4 decks...
its stupid to buy a 2 channel mixer for 4 decks.... so heres what u do, you buy a 4 channel mixer, 2 of the decks are controller with turntables, the other 2 are controller with midi controllers, all going to the 4 channel mixer and you can...
The way I see it, as the Kontrol x1 will be customizable, I might as well just get the 2 x1s and have the effect parameter knobs assigned to shift to control the eq's of the 3rd and 4th decks. I am going to have to think about whether or not I will be able to make use of a 4 ch. mixer as a beginning DJ, all of this will certainly cost me more than the mixer I currently have my eye on (AEM-100i)....
xone 42 and throw a innofader in it.. thats what i did, i have the
innofader set for a very sharp curve for scratching, and theres this
convenient crossfader off button on the mixer and i turn it off when i'm
mixing... i don't like mixing with the crossfader i mix with the upfaders.
Glad to hear that you're angling towards an AEM-100i! It definitely provides effects you can't find in any DVS (that I know of). That's why I picked one up - and now I'm working for the company.

I use a xone 1d. Not because richie hawtin uses it, but simply because I like the quality of this thing, the feel is like touching a real mixer, and it also has the hight of a real mixer. Sits well next my own mixer, and I feel comfortable with it.
Kontrol X1 seems also nice, but full plastic doesn't appeal me so much.

so with traktor scratch pro it has 4 inputs in and 4 inputs out... it allows you to control each deck with each channel of the 4 channel mixer. If i ever buy a battle mixer, i am going to buy a aem100i but i mainly mix different genres of edm and i love the 4 deck capability.. 2 decks controlled with vinyl gives me that feel and control and the other 2 decks i usually use sync becuase i have no way to beat match it... cant stand using the...
If you have the Audio 8 DJ, you should have 2 channels left (in case you use 2 TT's). That means, that you can output channel 3 & 4 to another two channels of the mixer. It's in the traktor settings, under "Output Routing".
