Thread: Towing Capacity for 1984 s10 blazer w/ 3.4l ?

I'm looking to buy an older 18' boat. My guess is the boat/trailer weigh about 2500 pounds. I only want to pull it maybe 2 hours away max. Does anyone know what the towing limits would be for my blazer? It's an 84 s10 blazer, originally had a 2.8l, but a newer 3.4l was swapped in. Still has the original 2bbl carb, and engine's all stock; auto 2wd tranny. Not sure what class hitch is ...

I'm no expert, this is what I'd do. I'd check the glove compartment to see what options were installed by code. There's also the vechile identification tag on the driver's side inside frame would have some info there as well. Then ask your self this... What kind of tires you have on it? What condition are the shocks, rear springs? Will you be hauling over hills/ mountains? If so, do you have any...

I'm in the same boat...pun intended That's one of the reasons I'm hanging onto my s-10 p/u. So I can haul a boat to local fishing holes. Right now I'm using it as a daily driver, but eventually hope to park it for restoring/engine swap. Don't care if I end up driving a roller skate with a lawn mower engine to and from work, as long as it gets good milage. For playing, I'll always have the s-10...
