I guess I am not the only one on this forum then. I had the same issue, went to Apple store, talked to 2 customer service reps and no avail. My only option is to spend 200 Old Iphone or spend 400 for a 3G iphone. This is pathetic, as an owner of a 1g Iphone, 3g iphone, and macbook, I always thought of Apple as offering excellent customer service (till I actually needed it). My issue...

My phone also started acting up. The top icons on home screen do not respond anymore. I have the original iphone and I am 20mo.s into my 2yr contract. The guy at the apple store gave me the same options as mentioned by others (i.e upgrade to new one or pay $200 to get a refurbished one which in my opinion are not options at all). Do you have your case number available? Im just so annoyed cause I just called about the same issue. I have a original 4giger that is about 13months old...and I got thier cookie cutter statement "this is the first time Ive heard of this". That burns me up cause they say it everytime. I don't have the case number. Since apple store was close enough, I just drove to the apple store. 3GS is nice and all but I am seriously considering BB after reading about all the touch screen issues folks are having. Most of them seem to run into this issues after a year or more of use by which time the apple warranty is over conveniently......

I don't have the case number. Since apple store was close enough, I just drove to the apple store. 3GS is nice and all but I am seriously considering BB after reading about all the touch screen issues folks are having. Most of them seem to run into this issues after a year or more of use by which time the apple warranty is over conveniently... original Iphone   Windows XP   2g, 8GB.
