You could add Forrest Gump to that list, except for the fact that even the excellent soundtrack could not save such a terrible film!

It was known years ago that a good score could save a film. I remember reading a 1959 interview with Malcolm Arnold, then riding high with his wonderful score for The Inn of the Sixth Happiness . I can't remember who said it but I once heard soundtracks described as 'invisible mending'. It's certainly true with some of the films in that list.

I've seen all those films apart from The Boat that Rocked and 500 Days... and most were indeed largely forgettable. 24 Hour Party People has an amazing soundtrack and I enjoyed the film but I was part of the scene that the film portrayed so obviously it had more meaning for me than for tha average viewer.

Nothing could save Legends of the Fall. It was utterly, utterly awful.

Thanks, darrenburnfan, for letting us see the soundtracks so clearly. I'm sceptical of movie Top Tens chosen (for no particular reason) from the past 25 years. What about HELP! (1965) ?

I can't remember who said it but I once heard soundtracks described as 'invisible mending'. It's certainly true with some of the films in that list.
