Thread: Too late to start training MMA at 29?

Started 2 months, 2 weeks ago by WorldofWarcraft
I'm turning 29 this Friday. I'm bored as all hell. Too much time on my hands and I'm getting out of shape. Is it too late to start training MMA? Not to compete, but something to keep me occupied and stay in shape.

Hell no. Randy Couture is a great example.

i suggest BJJ, boxing/muy thai... mma gyms has too many "im gunna make the ufc watch!" meatheads to be recreational.. trust me if ive been in both worlds.

There are 45 year olds at our gym that do fine. Quit being a pussy.

29 is fine if you have excellent cardio and are not just some bench pressing muscle head that gases in 3 minutes you'll be fine. you can train for 1 year and depending on your skill level be ready at 30. that's ten years MMA career. Not bad.

Sometimes it's better to start later in life because of wear and tear. Many fighters who start in their teens or early 20's are pretty worn down. There are exceptions to the rule like Randy Couture of course.
