Thread: Tokyo Game Show '09 24th-27th September - Hype Thread

Started 3 months ago by abigsmurf
2nd biggest gameshow of the year but the most active one for Japanese publishers. Hopefully there should be a lot to see this year as companies produce more impressive and more varied titles to the larger installed user base for each console. Hopes for the show? Nintendo: Zelda Wii video DSi virtual console DSi exclusive games taking advantage of the extra horsepower (that ...

What a coincidence; I was about to make a post about this myself. (Although I was quite surprised to find out that, with one week to go till TGS 2009 opens, there wasn’t a thread about it.) I attended TGS myself last year, (which gives me the perfect opportunity to link to my shoddily designed report about the 2008 show ) and I’ll be there on the two business days as well. However, if I’m being ...

Doh, forgot they always did spaceworld. Could still see Metroid at least

I suspect that S-E's Kingdom Hearts focus will be purely on Birth by Sleep (which looks amazing) and that any KH3 announcement will come after that is released.

Yeah it's probably unlikely they'd risk BBS sales but that said, they showed off BBS and the DS one off at the same time so who knows.

Surprised there's so little interest in this given it's only a few days away. People don't realise it's coming or just don't care?

I'm not expecting much from it this year. We've already seen pretty much every big western title and most of the big Japanese titles already at the shows we've had in the States and Germany. It's also down to the fact I really don't rate most Japanese developers at the moment, they're falling pretty far behind the pace when it comes to making the current generation of consoles sing. I'm ...

Squeenix: I think we'll see a new KH for PS3/360. Also I think we'll hear something about Dragon Quest 10 (that I think was rumored for the Wii) Also hoping on some more info on Parasite Eve 3, Nier, Nier spin-off, and Front Mission. Hey, why don't we throw in some Final Fantasy 14 footage too? Capcom: Obviously we'll see Dead Rising 2, Lost Planet 2, Dark Void, and maybe some info on ...

Trouble with RE6 is that any teaser will bear only a slight resemblance to the finished game. Think we'll definately see RE ortable though.

I'd love to see some new fighters from Namco/Sega/Capcom/SNK or VF5: R PS3 (with online!).

Lots of expected games were no-shows. Ar Tonelico 3 was widely expected (known to be in development), as was Persona 5 (the existence of which has leaked so many times now it's not funny)

Was it Inafune who stood up during the Dead Rising 2 presentation and said 'the Japanese games industry is dying'? Yes, yes it was . I think he might have a point.

lol, thanks for the heads up........ Will go on a wee hunt....... 112 EDIT Jus had a brief scower and saw the images on a scan of the latest Famitsu mag. NICE.......... They are really putting in a lot of production into the game. So exciting.......... apparently you can now control other peeps. Which will hopefully mean more than guiding Haruka around the streets avoiding gang members, like in the first game. Also nice to see our main guy...

I've just watched the LBP motion control demo on the LBP thread. It seems like the 2 part controller that we saw at E3 (which I thought was pretty interesting) as now been toned down to what is basically a laser pointer... is that right? Pretty weird to read that Flower will be getting motion control treatment too, I thought it already was motion controlled!
