Thread: Titus Ultimate Weapon

Hi, I am playing FFX again and trying to get the Ultimate weapons and bonus Aeons (I didn't get any on my original playthrough). I am in the Calm Lands and done my Chocobo trainig and beat the trainer in a race. I've gone to the NW corner and gone down a path and see what looks like a square box embedded in the cliff-side. When I choose it with the X button it say I cannot open it. What else ...

You need the celestial mirror. First you need to visit Remiem temple next to the calm lands via chocobo - the entrance is up near where you first entered the calm lands. Win the race at the temple and you will receive the cloudy mirror. Next you need to go back to Macalania Woods and solve the missing family members subquest. Thanks for the advice. I did some experimenting and this is what I've found. As previously stated I didn't have the cloudy or celestial mirror and if I go down the slope I see a box that I cannot open. If I have just the cloudy mirror and go down the slope. ....from what I've found I've come to the conclusion that : you need the celestial mirror to open the box embedded in the cliff wall. you need to win the chocabo race against the trainer in order for the man to stop blocking your way down the slope.

Correct to both. None of the chests containing an ultimate weapon will open if you don't have the celestial mirror. Winning the race brings the guy over to stare in awe at your riding skills which means he's no longer blocking the chest. Of course, to get that weapon to maximum you'll need to beat the chocobo race with a modified time of less than 0 seconds which can be a really painful trial.
