Can anyone tell me if the myth that you have to be a good player to use titleist drivers is true?? Ive recently bought nike str8 fit driver and im not liking it! it doesnt feel like i get a good solid contact off it and the noise isnt great either!! Was thinking of exchanging it back for an R9, ping G10 or a titleist driver but after what i heard am not sure if this is a wise move!! I ...

Time to wake up then. Golf has changed a lot the last 10 years. You can play old school all you want, but times change.
How do you conclude with this? Finding the yardage takes 10 seconds, you can talk bs all you ...
Well I use a laser, and I feel like throwing in my 2cents on this.
(Full disclosure, I'm 24 years old. I have no idea what this has to do with anything, but it seems to matter to the OP so...)
First of all, knowing the distance my laser gives me is not the end of my distance calculation. I must also consider: elevation changes, wind, altitude, lie, slope, pin placement, ...

GPS are not 100% accurate. To the pin, center, or anything, they usually are off. I've used every major brand of GPS with the exception of Bushnell's newer stuff and they usually are off. Not by much, but they're certainly not "correct...

interesting arguments going on in here. i am not opposed to GPS programs/computers/whatever, but i don't personally have much inclination to use one. i'll find the yardage marker on the course or just trust my eyes. not because i'm opposed, as i said, but just because that's how i feel like doing it. *shrug*

I saw your topic and thought maybe you could help me too. I'd had a 983E 8.5 deg with the fujijura speeder shaft for about 4 years and recently had a launch monitor session before buying a new 909 driver. they fitted me with the 909D2 but I was told I could've hit a 909D3 as well. What I'm starting to wonder about is how much does the shaft matter in a driver. Right now, my 909D2 9....

I was thinking about buying a str8 fit dymo with the UST Proforce AXIVCore 69g graphite stiff shaft to compare with my r9 460 (I can return it within 30 days and receive full credit if I don't like it as much). Has anyone played with the stock shaft on the str8 fit clubs? Is it a good shaft? Is it a piece of crap? Does the ball fly way too high? Is the trajectory fine? So far, I've ...
no it's not wierd. whatever works, works. it's that simple. do whatever feels good to you, anything that helps to lower your scores go with it. you can have a driver, 3 wood, 5 wood, and 3 - 9 hybrids!!!!!!!! doesn't matter, why care about what people say. as long as it helps you get that little white ball into the hole in the fewest strokes possible it's all good at the end of the day. good luck with your game in 2010
Sun Mountain Reflex LS From NC, but working up on Nantucket,Mass. Needed something for the rain/wind. Got this top last week from Edwin Watts. Best outerwear I have ever had. So comfortable, stretches a bit, nice elastic collar with velcro adjustment, neck fits tight but stretchy and comfortable, made (cut) for golfing and no restricted feeling like most non-golfing outerwear. Just the perfect top. Waterproof and windproof. Tested it hard...

It'll weigh more so you won't hit it as far. But, the weight might cause you to strike it better. I've got a steel shaft driver at home, time to try it out.

Some locals say they prefer a low-bounce LW because of this. In November, I was at the driving range and...
I agree with Chubbs - this sounds like two separate issues. Your 8-iron yardage has little to do with your driver. Your long irons are more relevant. I have an old set of MacGregors where the 8 iron is my 140 yd club - I hit the 2-iron from that set about 225. When I use that set, I bring a 5 wood and a driver. The 2-iron in another set I use goes about 245. When I use them I bag either the 2i or a 5w, then either a 3w or driver depending on...
if 3 hybrids are wat u need to play your best then there's nothing wrong with that. hybrids are great options to replace irons. i am myself considering adding a 2H, the Titleist 909 H 19*. There's this guy at our golf club who plays off +2, is a great ball stricker and plays with 2-5 hybrids and then blades from the 6-PW. I've played with him a few times and asked him why he played hybrids instead of player's irons. He...
A lot more people buy new TV's than buy golf clubs. Many of these big box stores have their own credit cards and that's how they offer 6 months same as cash.
