Thread: Thyroid Cancer

I had thyroid cancer diagnosed and my thyroid and lymph nodes taken out in July 2009. I am wondering, for those of you who have had this done as well, how long it takes to feel normal again? What is your medication set at? What are you taking? I still feel crazy emotional, tired, etc. I have heard it will take me a couple of years for my body to get used to the meds and get working right. I ...

Did you have RAI? Thats what really gave me problems, because I went hypo for too long, and had never been on meds prior. It took me quite a while to find the right dose of synthroid (I felt yucko on generic for some reason), where my tsh was suppressed, and I felt right. Hard to say when I started to feel "normal" again. The first 6 months or so I was taking Cytomel and Synthroid together and then switched to another Endo and he switched me to all Synthroid. I didn't really notice an energy change when that happened. I take 250mcg of Synth. I'm a 28 year old 235lb male though, which might have some impact. I had my thyroid taken out because of cancer in apr 09. I have just noticed in the past few weeks that I have been feeling alot better. Before this i was miserably tired and had no energy whatsoever I have noticed I dont take as many naps as I use to just on the days I work (I get up at 230am yuck). I am on Levothyroxine 175mcg I didnt think I would ever get better, but even tho I do feel better ...
